Please be aware when re-newing your British Passport on line that any supporting documents you send you will probably never get them back. I sent my current B.Passport (that has my P.R. Visa for Australia enclosed) to the U.K. for renewal. 6 weeks later I get the new passport MINUS my old one so I cannot now return to Australia where I live. I have sent 5 emails and completed 2 on-line enquiries explaining the situation to the Passport Office in the U.K. where I sent my renewal application and have had absolutely no help. I just get standard form emails back saying that "supporting documents will be returned 7-10 days after you receive your new passport" Its now been 40 days and my P.R. Visa for Australia is about to expire so I will be stuck in LIMBO.

Advice from the British Consulate Office in NZ is appalling!
There is virtually no real contact person you can speak to- unbelievable!
The website is poorly designed from a consumer experience perspective and the information available on line is inadequate. Really in this day and age there is no excuse.
Hi there upon looking online to renew my UK passport and now i am extremely confused as to now New Zealand post office no longer checks all details to ensure you have the correct paper work, then i read online that there is a huge delay in getting UK passports renewed, how can i go to the UK to renew if i have a expired passport? then it says on another page i can get a 12 month extension for free is this correct? i was hoping to change my name also since i became divorced, how can i do this if i can only get a 12 month extension? so confused unsure who to talk to can you please help me thank you
I currently have an entry certificate for permanent entry granted in July 1989 which is still current as I travel to the UK most years.In order to avoid having to present old and current passports at immigration could my current passport be stamped with 'GIVEN INDEFINITE LEAVE TO ENTER THE UK 'as per my previous passport?

Greg's passport arrived today. He left on Saturday on his Emergency Travel Doc. Just couriered his new passport back to England. Extra costs of $250!! GGRRR!
My advice - leave plenty of time - the 3 weeks renewal process is not happening!!
