Dear Sir / Madame:
I'm Dr. Josep Quintana Cardona, a paleontologist / malacologist from Minorca (Balearic Islands, Spain). In this moment I'm making a paper about old land snails collection conserved in the Minorca Museum were are conserved some Placostylus specimens, the "typical" big land snails of New Caledonia.
Probably, these shells were sent to Minorca by the naturalist E. L. Layard, consul in Noumea at the end of the past century. I'm compiling some life data about him. I'm very interested to know the period of time when Mr. Layard was Consul in Noumea. Can you help me with this information?
