Sir,
Your mother was born in 1961 at Pondicherry, Fench India, She was aged 1 year ason 16,08.1962 date of merger of Frnehc india into Indian Union. If her father was norn in Fr.India to a french father, he should have opted to conserve french nationality abd
included your mother's name in his declaration of option, In such a case, your mother will be eligible to claim CNF

Sir,
You have to prove that either your father or mother was french at the time of your birth. You state that your father and his father were born in Tamil Nadu. So, it is not possible. If you wish, you can study the effects of the franco indian treaty 1956 about merger of french India into Indian Union. Yours sincerely

French nationality
My grandparents got married in Pondicherry in 1925 and lived upto 1949, but both were born in Tamilnadu. They left pondicherry in 1949 and never came back. My grandfather died in 1960 and grandmother in 1970.

My father was born in 1948 in tamilnadu and lived in tamilnadu till 1970 and returned back in 1970 and lived here since. I was born in pondicherry in 1979.

certificates I have at present - 1. Grandfather's marriage certificate - registered in Mary in 1925 2. No birth certificates (but with effort it is possible to obtain it) 3. certificate of identity issued for travel purposes(it says my grandfather is French citizen). 4. birth certificate and marriage certificate of my parents 5. my birth certificate (not married yet).

Is it possible to obtain french nationality?
