French nationality for 1959 born
Dear Kichenamourty ,
My Mother was born in Pondicherry (French-India) on 1959. Her mother(my Grandmother) is holding French Nationality. She has two sisters and one brother. Except my Mother, all of her brother and sisters are holding French Nationality. Her mother didn't apply French nationality for my mother, because that time few people told that, a person who born on the year 1959 is not eligible for French Citizenship. Is that true?
Now she really intrested in getting French nationality

what are the possiblility for her to get a French nationality for her now? Kindly guide us which and all the necessary documents needs be submitted for this.

Sir
I think you are now in France, I dont know your nationality, You have to study the effects of the franco indian treaty, 1956 regarding merger of Fr, India into Indian union, It came into force on 15.8.1962.
Your mother born in Pondicherry 1944 was a french citizen she should have given in writing during the period of 6 months from 16.8.1962 to conserve her french nationaliy, Otherwise she will become Indian
from 16.2.1963
If your father was born in T.N. in 1933 to a french father he can claim frenh nationality certficate. For this he has to prove if he is alive, that he has been conserving french nastioality, Yous sincerely
