DOM (Department d'outre-mer means overseas district but TOM (territoire d'outre-mer) is overseas territory,
I have not advised you to send your papers to the french nationality service. Reintegration or naturalisation requires your stay in France. I think you are residing in Pondicherry. Yours sincerely

Sir,
Your father born in Pondicherry did not opt for him and for yourself, a minor born also in Pondicherry , to conserve the french nationality, Hence he lost the french nationality and became Indian on 16.08.1962. You have followed the condition of your father, You can try to apply for reintegration in the french nationality lost. For this a long period at least 5 years in France or in french DOM,TOM.is required, Yours sincerely

I was brn in 1959 in Pondicherry. My father was born in 1926 in pondichery. my grand father also born in pondichery. my father worked as a military man in the French government from 1952 to 1958. after that, he went to india, he did not optioned during the treaty. And myself at the time of 1962 , had 3 age only. I cannot optioned , due to mistake of my father ,himself and also muself become indian. I am renoncant only. my father had renounced and adopt the family name'David'. my name is joseph david. Is there any chance to apply the French nationality for me

Your birth certificate issued by Karaikal Municipality
(registrar of births & deaths), India will be valid at abroad (France or Reunion), if it is duly attested and apostilled, The signature of the Registrar is at first attested by the Regional administrator (CEO) Karaikal, then by the Under or Joint secretary, Home department, Pondicherry,which is in the General secretariat,3rd floor, Pondicherry, Finally your birth certificate shall be apostilled by the Under secretary, ministry of external affairs (Brasnch secretariat,located at EVK Saampath Maaligai- 7th floor, No.68 College Road,Nungampakkam Chennai- 600 006. For this purpose you have to enclose a bank draft (DD) for Rs 50/- drawn i n favour of "PAO,MEA, NEW-DELHI". Yours sincerely
