VISAS
I am writing to register my disappointment at the treatment I have received at the hands of your British Consulate.

I am a 48 year old Zimbabwean male legally residing in RSA. I submitted an application for a visa to the UK on 20th June 2016 and got a refusal of the same on the 11th of July 2016. Please note that I am not upset about the refusal but about the reasoning behind your assessment of my application.

The primary reason for my visit was to accompany my spouse to her graduation ceremony scheduled for 22nd July at the University of Liverpool where she has successfully studied and completed an Msc Information Technology. Secondly I intended to take a tour of the UK since I have planned and saved about USD12,000.00 which Nedbank statement I submitted with the application to support affordability. Also note that this is not a 1 or 2 months fake deposit meant to fool the beholder but a genuine FCA.

The following items were also a part of my application: -

1. My old passport reflecting my visit to the UK in 2000 whereupon I returned within 3 of the six months I had been granted.
2. My 2 other passports clearly showing my tours around:- Sweden, Nigeria, India, Singapore and many other African states and on many occasions
3. My current passport and residence permit in RSA
4. My Emirates ticket to the UK scheduled for the 13th of July 2016
5. My Nedbank Foreign account statement with a balance of USD12,550.00 and in which I have maintained > USD10,000.00 since November 2015.
6. A Letter from my Managing Director indicating that I do not have a salary as a Director but am getting allowances to the tune of R360,000.00 pa
7. An affidavit to show that I am customarily married to xxxxxxxxxxxxx who is graduating.
8. R4000.00 payment for the visa applications
9. A letter from my grade 12 son’s school Principal stating that my son is a current Student at Christchurch College.
10. Company Registration documents showing me as one of the Incorporators of my company.
11. 2 x letters of invitation from (i) my family friend, a senior Engineer in the Royal Navy and (ii)my mother in law in Woking, Surrey.
12. My friend’s offer of accommodation and his lease agreement for the property in Scotland where he is stationed
13. A copy of my friend’s passport, British residence permit and Royal Navy ID
14. A copy of Standard Bank’s confirmation of my business account
15. Registration certificates of my 3 vehicles

Your response was:-
1. A disapproval of my 3 week stay for a 1 day graduation ceremony with the SUSPICION that I intend to do otherwise.
In my application, I clearly indicated my intention to spend at least GBP2000, about 20% of my account balance since I would not be paying for accommodation.

2. That my Managing Director stated that I earn allowances of R30,000.00 monthly (GBP1,549.96 according to your letter) whose statement I did not enclose. I did not need to enclose a statement as (i) I have more than enough in my foreign account as per my bank statement, which is actually more as at today’s date and (ii) I earn the allowances by directly spending using my business account debit card.

3. You are not satisfied that I will leave the UK. I have visited, not only the UK but many states and returned home and my spouse has been to many European countries, including the UK and on many occasions lately and returned home since she is employed as a Senior IT Development Manger in Nedbank Africa and I, a Finance Director of a fairly new business though.
Our 2 children who live with us on our own property in Midrand, Johannesburg are in school and the school Principal attested to this.
4. Your refusal, furthermore, stated that my visit is not genuine and I still wonder what else I needed to have done or enclosed to prove that my history remains clean and my intentions very clear. It is quite insulting at my age to be suspected to be planning criminal activities and worse still to have an important decision made against me because of such.

In conclusion I wish to clearly state that:-

1. Your office is wrong and inconsiderate and maybe doesn’t like my race and nationality. (I am having to cancel my tickets at a cost)
2. I am studying an Msc with University of Roehampton in London and am worried whether I, like, my spouse will be refused to attend my graduation after paying USD16,000 for the 2 ½ year course.
3. My spouse paid in excess of R200,000.00 for her Msc and she cannot attend her graduation ceremony despite all the bookings being done and proved and the letter from University of Liverpool inviting both of us.
4. I am having to forfeit the bookings I made for the ceremony, the robe and many other arrangements
5. I am copying this e-mail to my spouse and my Royal Navy friend for their files too.
6. I have no criminal record in my life and at 48, I don’t take it kindly to be suspected to have criminal intentions.
7. My spouse is re-applying and I’m having to pay another R4,000 for an emergency application for her and if she is granted, she will go with a heavy heart as I cannot re-apply since your office clearly indicated its intention to turn down my re-application
8. I believe it is only fair and humane for your office to avoid unnecessarily bagging the clean with the unclean and judging people on the basis of their skin colour rather than facts.

I hope I did not sound rude but factual and a simple unknown individual may seem good enough to snub but there is a God in heaven who discerns hearts and motives of all beings.

Thank you

VFS
Does anyone know of an email address for VFS?

I am trying to create an account with them to apply for a visa but they are having a few problems on their site and the attempts to create the account keep on failing.

There is no telephone number or mail address to report this.
