Hi, w0uld like 2 know whether 1 can drive in the UK using the SA'n drivers licence??

My son,wife and children live in the UK and are citizens of the UK. Can I, as my sons mother,age 65 apply for a british passport?
my passport is expiring today!!does it make any difference to get a new passport if it has expired already??why cant i deliver my forms etc in person to pretoria i was turned away last week and told that only certain courier services can deliverand only between 8.00 and 10.00 am mon. to fridays!!! why must i pay a courier service to do what i can!!!???
