seetharaman
Sir,
The person concerned was in the Forces publiques in India which differ from French Army in France and stationed in other french colonies, not French India,
A military staff enlisted on contract basis in French India should renew his contrasct every three years upto the length of service of 15 years. Non renewal will lead to termination of service, He may be a french citizen, but the question is if be was born in French India he should have opted to conserve the french nationality during the period of six months from 16.8.1862, date of dejure tranfer of French India into Inidan Union, Non option will cause loss of french nationality to become Indian from 16.8.1962, I think my opinion will be accurate if given after examining the relevant papers. Yours sincerely
seetharaman.

Sir, At your request, a free translastion is given.

"In reply to your letter dated 29.09.1968, I am to inform you that the services you have rendered from 1.6.1043 to 5.9.1952 are not military services but they are civil services which could not be validated BOPP No. 8 dated 22. 2.1960).
Further the instruction N°18300 SCR\1B\REG DU 16.11.1963 article 24 para a\b prescribes that only the persons who are not relieved from the military duties can subscribe a contract of re-enlistment, but you have been relieved from military duties since l.l.1964
CONSEQUENTLY your petition for re-enlistment is lodged. "
Yours sincerely,
seetharaman.
