Visit to the Consulate
My wife and I went to the Consulate to renew our passport. From the first person to the end of our visit, everyone was helpful and friendly. What I have noticed on my visit was, the people who are being process knew they had to provide a money order for their passport. In this time and age, why don't the consulate put in interact machine, all other business even small ones have this facility, it seems we are not being currant and staying abreast with time. As a resident of Trinidad we should make our self look good in the public eye.

Nationals lament.
I have been to the consulate for a new passport, had all relevant documents and was out in less than one hour. My new passport came within six weeks and I collected same with no hassle.
It seems that only people who do not have their proper documents and those who have not kept up with what is happening in this world with security , have a problem. They will continue to be disgruntled if they remain asleep. Born Canadians need current documents .What makes immigrants think that they are exempt?? especially Trinidadians.

Phone service/inquiry
My wife is renewing her passport and we had a few questions, so we phone the consulate to inquire (2/20/2014); a gentleman answered the phone, unfortunately we didn't get his name; he was very helpful by answering all our questions and also assisted us in booking my wife's appointment. (thank you).

Primitive/Uneducated & Inexperienced
It is so sad that the representatives at the Consulate assume their "Position of Authority" gives them the 'okay' to talk down to clients, on the phone and likewise in person. Never mind the strong dialect, no courtesy and poor language skills without the slightest effort to sound professional. The CSR's sound as if they're having Lunch whilst on the phone and going to the Consulate in person to see the lackadaisical approach was even more appalling. The staff had to double check with other staff to be certain of some information as they did not know. 'What the hell... I wish to god there was a professional body of staff to represent our Nation as if this is what Trinidadian Nationals have to deal with, no wonder they chose to live abroad.

Someone please monitor, give feedback and make changes at the Consulate
Quality Control is much needed*

process for entering person name not on the birth certificate.
It has been brought to my notice that inspite of the act pass in Trinidad and Tobago giving authorization for name not listed in a person birth certificate to do so now the Consul General Office here in toronto is still waiting for the process to do so and is not making any effort in getting this matter solve quickly.
An Urgent Respose would be appreciated.

Horrendous
Horrendous Customer Service

This has been like a travel back in time!! It’s a shame that this consulate is a representation of what our country is like. The attitudes and lack lustre attempt to help is deplorable.

I called was on hold for the longest time and suddenly the call is cut off! This office should be closed as it is almost next to useless and the staff could all do with a course on compassion and customer service.

Called back actually got to speak to someone – in the middle of the call I was cut off. Called back, explained what had happened – the response “what you want me to do”, as I said to my fellow Trini, Sir there are a number of responses that come to mind but how’s about you transfer my call. I was put on hold and no one ever answered. My kind friend I’m sure never transferred me but God is good I’m sure Karma will come back to bite that kind gentleman!

We can put on a show over two days that brings in endless tourist but we can’t offer a half decent level of customer service to our own!! As like most things, this will never change so I’m sure many Trini’s will opt to become citizens of other countries!!

Embarrassed to be represented by these sorts!!

Lack of people skills at the consulate in Toronto
I have never had to deal with such disrespect as I had at the T&T consulate. These people lack so much in terms of people skills. I am a Trinidadian born and breed yet these people tell me I need this and that to retain my T&T citizenship. You have no privacy there. Lady! my documents (T'T passport) were taken in a armed robbery in Trinidad you ignored those documents.I had to come from another province, lose a days work and for what?

T and T office staff lack of public relation skills
My experience at The T and T consulate was horrible. The staff deal with were blatantly rude, lacked interest and very disrespectful in serving me. I felt degraded, belittled and insulted. I left the office in tears and have not returned to have my issues sorted out. They need training and perhaps a whole new office staff because the folks there do not care about the guests they serve at their office. WE HAVE TO DO BETTER!
