A Dose of Trinidad.
I went to this consulate to have our families passports renewed. The woman at the window was very impolite, during the interview with the consulate general she expressed herself as a prison guard interviewing a criminal on parole. She had all the relavent documents to support the applications and her rolling of the eyes and harshness was definitely unnecessary. I asked if this type of behavior was given to every candidate? The reply was,"I get to decide who gets a passport around here." I asked for a supervisor at the window s i was leaving and a bald gentleman wrote an apology note on a blank piece of white paper and handed it to me to sign, saying i was sorry on the note. I gave it back to him and he slide it back saying," you know nah." This is what trinidadian service is all about. They have failed to realize that these methods work in Trinidad but NOT in north America.

Long wait for Passport
I applied for my passport on December 8th 2014 and was told it will be ready in 14 weeks. Today is Monday April 27th and I have not received a call or email from the embassy to date.

Note my Canadian passport was renewed in 1 week.

cannot speak to anyone
My Trinidad passport expires dec 2015. I have been trying for several days to speak to someone by leaving seversl messages on ext 231. ext 221 for days is saying the mail box is full. I finally got hold of a live person whom told me they do not work in that dept and thus cannot help and then gave me two more exts, ext 224 and 237, don't have to tell you what happened. It's so frusturating not to get any response from anyone for seversl days. From past experiences nothing has changed.

Professional Service - NOT
I would like to thank Jackie for the wonderful service that she did not provide and proceeded to hang up on me after hearing her bad mouth my mother and telling me she is a rude woman, and I told her I thought she was rude and she told me "you think so dear" and then hung up on me. Bravo Madam, I am following up my telephoning the Ottawa Embassy and contacting officials in Trinidad and writing a complaint letter to your branch along with my mother to state our side of occurrence and how you are the most unprofessional, disgrace and poor representation of Our Island nation and recommending you to have some updated training to deal with clients or to be replaced as you are obsolete and ignorant to your duties and to our Citizens. You are a poor representation of what it means to be Trinidadian and even poor excuse of a human being playing social with your position of power. I am launching official complaints and recommend everyone else to do so as well. I am a Community Development and Outreach Worker and studying Human Rights and Equity pursing the Legal Jurisdiction of that study. No person should be treated in such a disgusting manner, so Jackie, Reap what you have sown and take recommendations or reprimands in stride and leave you social and personal bias at home and out of the office and work as a civil servant with our Nationals and non Nationals alike. Good Day Jackie I hope your life treats you better so you can act like a decent human being instead of a social elitist puppet who gets high off her self perceived social stratification allowing her to abuse her position of power and place people's lives at risk.

Original Affidavit
Last July I went to Trinidad and decided to apply for a new birth certificate. All the people there seem to be very polite but the only thing is I can't understand why they kept my original affidavit. The girl who attended to me said it is compulsory they have to keep it. Is that the rule? Oh by the way it is true what the previous person is saying. The office in Toronto do not return calls. So I am just wasting my breath leaving messages.

Who is making the decisions in the Government of T&T
I rang the T&T embassy in Toronto for information with regard to Restoration of Citizenship today to find out how long the process will take. The secretary/clerk was very professional and polite. I was surprised to learn that the Department which handles the Restoration of Citizenship applications in Trinidad was closed since 2013 because of some health issue in the building and that there is now a backlog pending the office's reopening. What kind of government is ruling Trinidad and Tobago? Couldn't they find a building to house the staff for this purpose? Don't they have any regard for people and their lives? I am sure that there are hundreds who are depending on these papers for one reason or the other. I hope someone from the government reads this. Are they trying to keep us out? I hope that the electors see this post.

good results
I visited the tt embassy in toronto, in the early 1990s i had my passport renewed without any problems, now that i am also canadian citizen i still keep my tt passport up to date, in spring of 2014 i had my tt passport renewed without any problem what so ever and i was able to obtain a passport for my 8 year old daughter, i carried all the necessary documents to assist the processing easier, i am always humble and polite with the staff and i will be picking up my daughter passport in a few days. my passport usually takes about 12 weeks, i am very sorry for the ones who had bad experiences at our embassy. They are a very humble and professional group of people. i had very good experience.Hope your next visit is shorter and a plesant one.
good luck
