Comments on this Consulate-General
I am about to apply for my passport but with all the horrible reports of passports being lost and taking longer than 6 months, are there other options.
It's been pass 60 days plus waitin for my passport.
Phone several times , left messages even email , no answer or response , that's not cool we pay for a service , at least have a line or some website where we can find out about if ,our passport is ready. Don't jus ignore poor people , u wouldn't like to be treated in that manner,
I have applied for my passport since April 2014, to date its 6 months later and I have still not received it. After several months of constant communication and even following up myself with the Trinidad passport office it's finally complete. After having conversations with many employees at the embassy @ 185 Sheppard Ave including but not limited to Keeva Clarke, consul -Vidhya Maharaj a woman named ms Thompson, and Ravi Maharaj they cannot seem to locate where my passport is. I visited the office today and was appalled and embarrassed by the poor unprofessional service I received. No one seemed to know anything. The consul herself spoke to me in haste saying we are rude to her. She needs to wake up smell the coffee, this is Canada, she need to keep up with people living in a first world country, if you are inefficient, lazy and express that "don't care" attitude you should expect people to be irate.
I was told that the passport will take a few days to arrive in Toronto by the Trinidad office and mentioned the name of the person I spoke to. The representatives at the Consulate office said there is no such person by name that worked there and offered to call them to confirm, only to realize she was wrong. They run that place like it is a shop on the corner! Very disappointed!!!!
One will expect that by now better coordination can be in place, especially if there is an emergency to have better meaningful systems and support from the consul here in Canada. Trinidadians need to realize that they are the only ones that are responsible for the condition of their government services and move towards greater efficiency, it will hinder their own advancement.
I really wish they could hire Canadians to run this place.
I don’t expect anything else but to be serviced with efficiency and respect. It is just a common courtesy to expected from a government service.
If there is someone out there that can help, please help with this.
My Wife applied for her Trinidad and Tobago Passport 6 months ago and have still not receive it. She has been in communications with Keeva Clark and Ravi from the office @ 185 Sheppard Avenue and have been getting the ‘run around’. Is there some other way to get help?
No replies whatsoever. I was considering doing business in T&T but the Toronto consulate showed how much they care about that.
No phone or email replies. No one answered the phones. No one could be reached. If I was a Trinidad, I'd be outraged, especially if I needed someone in a foreign country to help me.
This has been going on for over a month.
I phoned the consulate in Toronto to ask questions for the renewal of machine readable passport. No options to speak to anyone. Phoned long distance couple a times. Left message. No reply. Sent an e-mail. No reply. This has been going on about 3 weeks now.
They need training in customer service, also in Trinidad.
Utterly disappointed in the person that I had to speak with during my appointment to get a machine readable passport. Not very friendly and not knowledgeable. The individual had no idea how to read an affidavit in regards to a name correction in relation to a miss-spelling on a birth certificate. I have been told now that I need to get a new affidavit to encompass marriage documents and all other ids. Something is not right with that. The amount of information required to obtain a Trinidad passport for a small country is unbelievable. Yet for Canada it is so simple in comparison and yet Canada is a much bigger country with a larger population. How very sad that these individuals are allowed to handle documents and not know how to process them correctly. Again very disappointed.
Got there for our appointments this morning to find out there was now a new simple single page renewal form for the computer read passport - not available on line. We immediately filled them out but then found out that our appointments were somehow nowhere to be found in their system. No problem - were still able to see a representative shortly afterwards and the whole process took no more than 15mins each once you have the necessary documents - T&T passport with 2 color photocopies. Staff were quite courteous and professional with our experience.
Took my wife there (Sheppard Ave.) few weeks ago to apply for her passport, she dealt with 3 to 4 employees & they were all very friendly and hospitable...
