High Commission of South Africa in Gaborone

I applied for a passport in August 2015.Staff were very unfriendly and not very helpful but rather impatient and not clear regarding what was required particularly pertaining to fingerprints etc.After completing all documentation,I was told to phone after 4 months to find out whether the passport was ready.I have tried on several occasions but am constantly told that the passport department switch off their phones and even when advised to switch on their phones they do not bother to do this particularly on a Friday which is their half day, even the head of the consulate does not answer the phone and I am told by switchboard that it is because the phone has been switched off.Most jobs involve answering the telephone even when an employee is busy so why is the SA embassy in Gabs different?Further to this the switchboard are most unhelpful in just dropping the line rather than communicating what is happening.I am concerned about the image that this portrays of the SA embassy.

I am Full Professor at Botswana International University of Science and Technology, in Palapye, Department of Chemical Engineering. I have Romanian citizenship.

The scope of my email is to find out which is the possibility to obtain a visa for South Africa from your representation in Gaborone. For two reasons:
1. We have many collaborations with universities in Pretoria and Johannesburg and in my quality of PhD supervisor and Chair of The Committee for Research and Technology Transfer of the College of Engineering at BIUST, I am supposed to travel there quite frequently.
2. Travelling from and to Romania is shorter (than through Adis Ababa) and less expensive through SA, but for that I need a transit visa.

I have work permit for 5 year in Botswana, consequently Residence Permit. Is it possible to obtain the visa in Gaborone? And which is the procedure?

I have been banned to stay in Southafrica for 12months.i overstayed one day because i forgot my passport at Rivonia home affairs.i was supposed to submit my permit application on the 18,i was told to apply for good cause letter.i went to Louistrichadt and harrison home affairs they refused to do it for me.i appealed but still no reply.my children are alone since the first born is 12 yrs no one is taking care of them.plz help me
