For those who came young or are decendents of Portuguese immigrants and their Portuguese in government terms is not too strong
Please let people know exactly what they need to bring with them to do their business required, including amount of cash to pay their fees.

Be able to tell people in both Portuguese and in English clearly and detailed. People have to travel long ways and take time off work, both difficult situations at times.

Telling people to go on-line to order their nedded documentation from Portugal is a very difficult thing to do if not impossible if you are not strong in the Portuguese language. Many of us are not. We came to Canada very younge from Portugal or we have parents that are Portuguese but we were born here in Canada. We do not know how to choose what is the right or the wrong form of the same document or which stamp is correct or which is not. I for one have had to order documentation twice or three times over, at a greater cost to me because it was the wrong form or stamp on the back. The Consulate should be far more helpful for us than they are. They should be able to order the documentation for us and keep it in our files at the consulate until all our dealings are done with.

The other thing I would like to see happen is a lot more compassion, to those that have come for help and have found only frustration and closed doors, and having to return over and over again to the consulate to find more obsticals in their way and are not getting all the help they can possibly be getting. It is not easy to deal with Portuguese regulations and laws all the way from Canada, especially if you have no family left in Portugal and language is a barrier, but never the less you are Portuguese or of Portuguese heritage and you need to resolve issues with Portugal.

For the most part they have been good in getting things done. Thank you.
