Consulate Service
I know the Consulate only have one day they are open all day. So that day is, of course, extremely busy. I have been at the Consulate many times, was very well serviced, staff is very kind, helpful, polite and efficient. Any Gov't service is usually busy and each case is different. I am very happy with the Consulate and I think it represent very well the country of Portugal in Vancouver.

Need information. Govt in Portugal told me to contact Consulate here
My father passed away this past May, 2015 and I need to know what to send to the consulate. When I called and listened to the list of things they need, I could not keep up and dont know if there is a form/forms that need to be filled out and sent. Also is the original Death cerrtificate required or is a copy ok.
If anyone out there has gone through this please email. Thanking you in advance

Just wanted to add...
If you still can't contact the Vancouver Consulate by Phone/email (see comment below)... and have a particular personal question that generic information from the Government of Portugal can't answer. You might want to contact the Toronto or Montreal Consulate General. Embassies (Ottawa) usually do not provide Consular service, issuing of documents and dealing with the public in general, Embassies are a diplomatic mission representing a country at a federal level. Also questions left here will probably won't be unanswered (unless by a fellow poster, non offical), this is not an official government page and doesn't get monitored as such.

Short staffed but good service.
The Portuguese Consulate in Vancouver is very short staffed, when I was there the last time there was one person, several people waiting in the waiting room, phone ringing non stop, meanwhile some documents do take away from that single employee, although I must admit once it was my turn I was given one of the best and most polite service I've received from a public servant.
If you live in the area, a going in person is the best option, internet for information and by phone try different times/days, you might have better luck when the doors are closed to the public but before 17h. Although quite limited might not seem ideal, but other small European countries sometimes don't even offer local consular services in Vancouver (e.g. Belgium)
