I went to the Portuguese Consulate in Johannesburg yesterday, and what a pleasant change to have a system that is able to help you immediately. The automated queing system, the database machine, everything. Well done
I would like to say a special thank you to Dn Manuela Beaucomp who had such a wonderful demeanor and really made a stressful situation a lot better

Hello,
I am a Portuguese citizen living in South Africa. I married a South African almost 13 years ago and have not yet had the opportunity to register our marriage in Portugal.
My Portuguese 'bilhete de identidade' and Portuguese passport have expired several years ago. I have not had an opportunity to renew them yet.
My questions are:
1. What documentation do I need to register my marriage in Portugal?
2. What documentation do I need to get a new Portuguese passport?
3. What documentation do I need to get a new Portuguese ID document (bilhete de identidade)?
4. What are the costs, and procedures to follow to get the above documents?
Please advise soonest.
Yours truly,
Ivone

I have two children born in South Africa, the father of the children and I never married. We are no longer together and he has remarried. I am Portugese and the Father is South African (Afrikaans). I have a portugese passport aswell as Identity card. What will be the easiest and quickest way of my two children getting portugese passports. My Children are the Ages of 16 and 11. Please help
Last year my wife and I decided to include a trip to Portugual along with a visit to the UK.
We live in Port Elizabeth and an attraction of visiting Portugual was that when we planned the trip a visa could be issued without anexpensive and time consuming trip to J'burg. Unfortunately the consulate would not accept alications for Visas more than three months before the date of travel.
Unfortunate because now it is necessary to travel to the Jburg consulate in persn for phtos and fingerprints.
The rules of the game have changed without any far warning!!
Hi, I'm seeking info on being a SA citzen and getting married to my Portuguese husband of 15 years under the Portuguese Embassy will give my 3 kids and myself permision to reside in England without a work visa. My husband has a EU passport which allows him to work and live?
