problems you will have in England with expired Italian passport:
1. You are not allowed to access English bank account that means
eventually no access to your founds this is for Lloyds TSB bank or Lloyds and they will not write an emergency letter for you to get your passport renewed other banks can be worse.
2. you will have to drop out of university cause University in England will tell you it's your responsibility to update passport this also means they won't give you a letter either for the emergency to get Italian passport renewed.
3. Italian consulates in the UK will tell you can work and live here with national insurance number with expired Italian passport you can't work cause employers and recruiters need Valid European passport.
4. If you rent a house or flat etc.... Real estate agent needs valid Italian passport so you can rent a home for your self.
5.NHS Needs Valid Up to date unexpired Italian passport so they can continue your medical treatment or you'll have discontinued medical
and or fines and Imprisonment.
6. HMC multiple fines and or imprisonment
7. deportation and fines and prison time and ruined for the rest of your life.
8. there is much, but these are the real serious ones.
9. the Italian consulates in the UK will tell it takes 18 to 26 months to register aire then maybe after that you will have your passport in 12 months bottom this is very bad, and they don't care there is no help.

why is it so difficult to renew your passport. I do not know of any other country where this is so difficult. They do not answer the phone so no appointments. They do not a answer their mail or emails. How do they operate a system that refuses to engage with their Italian citizens.The consulate in Manchester and Liverpool have been closed. The others wont entertain anyone who is not in their area. The London one does not answer the phone and therefore you cannot make an appointment to renew.

Hello. Please can you tell me if there is anyway I can find out details of my Italian grand fathers passport. He must have had one as he was in the British army in 1918 and traveled to England between 1881 and 1901. We are desperate to find out where he came from in Italy as all his documents only say Italy. Hi i passport applied for Italy. But my record moved in London embassy 3.4 months before. My passport applied before two and half years. But no response me.
I am commenting as I think is important to point out the positive experiences within our Italian Consulate! I used this service twice so far and both times it has been a fantastic experience with an efficient service.
I am very happy and suggest to those who only complains to perhaps take more responsibility tw/ their doing if they did not get good results.
If you follow protocol and bring what is requested, the service is excellent!
