Comments on this Consulate-General
I have been trying for nearly a month to renew my Italian passport and spent over £60 on phone calls . I was told to go to Peterborough 62 miles from my home when I arrived was told she could only get me an identity card and I have to travel back to Peterborough to collect it another 124 miles return and now have to go to London anyway this passport is important as my brother is very ill and I will need to go home in a hurry????
I´d like to say many thanks for your answer over the phone for my husband´s appointment. Many thanks to Italian Consulate. I have no complains. I have been, so far, treated fairly.
I am Indian passport holder and I am studying in UK and holding Student visa.
I have to do research work in Italy through my University, which type of visa do I need, and where to apply in Embassy or at VFS?
I have been trying to contact The Italian Consulate many many times by phone, and email to renew my passport, but are having no look at all trying to make an appointment why and what is wrong with this system in london ???

I have never come across such a lack of assistance or empathy - truly the most appalling system and service I have ever had the displeasure of coming across. Tried to book on-line as suggested to be shown that there are no available appointments for my 81 year old mother to renew her passport for the entire year of 2016. Opted to phone at 75p per minute(outrageous) to be met with nothing but contempt and zero empathy. I'm utterly ashamed to be Italian. Thank heaven I chose to be British!!!!
Am attempting to organise a passport for my 83 year old Sicilian neighbour, who is desperate to return home. He'll be dead and going home in a coffin before we even get close to an appointment. It's absolutely outrageous, the level of incompetence and indifference is worthy of a third world country. Shame on Italy and its bureaucrats.
Think this book online appointment to get passport renewed is absolutely stupid frustrating and impossible, it's is enough to give someone a nervous breakdown much better when you could telephone and speak to someone
My sister, Miss Roseline Umweni died last year in Piacenza of a motor accident that collided with her.
We were 10 biological brothers and sisters, remaining 9 of us. Since i am resident in London UK and presently undergoing medical treatment, the possibility of going to Italian Embassy in Nigeria to authenticate the sworn affidavit of family status is impossible due to health reason. Can i bring the certificate to italian consulate in London for authentification? Morealso, during our birth in Nigeria, there wasn't any record because child birth normally take place at home, but affidavit sworn in high court Nigeria is a very strong support of child birth . Can you also make this clear to the authority concern. Thank you.
How is anyone expected to use the passport appointment system? I work in a hospital. How is one expected to tell patients to wait whilst you spend your whole day trying to get an appointment. Absolutely ludicrous! Who invented this preposterous set up? Is the person who invented this method supposed to be intelligent. Shame on Italy for allowing this to happen.
