Sir,
From 16.8.1962, French India got merged with Indian Union, A French consulate general was opened on that day in Pondicherry, The French consul general is also the etat office officer for the french persons residing within his jurisdiction, From that day onward the registers of births, deaths and marriage for french nationals are maintained and certifed copies are delivered at reequest to the persons concerned and their parents and close relatives. For the period under french rule, as you know, the registers of etat civil were kept in duplicte, one in the relevant Mairie and another in the relevant court, For renoncants the registers of etat civil were maintained separately in triplicate, Only the triplicata register of etat civil of the renoncants was sent to the central service of etat civil Nantes, France. Yours sincerely
Sir,
If you have a right to claim fr. nat, certificate, I can guide you. Before a french court in Paris, to file a suit for declaring you as French, you have to engage a french lawyer practising before that court,
No foreign advocate is allowed. Please get assured whether you have a right. You are welcome to my office, opposite to Dr. Nallam clinic, Pondicherry, Yours sincerely
If suppose we are not getting either birth, marriage, death certificates from any one office like pondicherry local municipality, pondicherry court due to non availability or destroyed then we have to take it from France, nanth as you were mentioning in earlier questions,so what are all the steps we have to proceed and whom to contact in nanth for immediate remedy sir.
thank you sir.
Sir, Thanks for the reply to Ms. Rajalakshmi on Tue, 18 Oct 2016 07:12 EDT. I understand your point but is it possible to help me as you being a Lawyer by profession as it looks really cumbersome and tedious to get the task done in Paris, France by someone living in India. I'm willing to move ahead the formalities with you and agree on whatever charges for this special service.

Madam,
I advise to go through the questions and answers available in this site, in order to know well your case. I presume that your father had ex french ascendants (father, grand father etc...) He was a minor on 16.08.1962. The franco-indian treaty of cession says that your parental grand father should have submitted to the french consulate general in Pondicherry a declaration of option in writing by including your father's name in order to conserve the french nationality. Otherwise your grand father will become indian from 16.08.1962 and your father will follow his condition, Yours sincerely.
Dear Sir,
My father born on October 1956 in Pondicherry, his birth certificate was registered in french and his father (my grandfather) also born & brought in pondicherry.
In this connection, i have some doubts
1. whether my father is eligible to get French Passport / Citizenship?
2. if possible what are the documents required ?
3. what is the procedure ?
thank you
with regards
Sir/Madam
I presume that you are in France. So it is easy for you to contact the service de l'etat civil central at Nantes, either by phone or email. You can also send an application by proving your parentage with relevasnt documents plus a copy of the certificate of renonciation of your great grand father. Yours sincerely
