Why are you not saying when you applied for CSV

Appeal process doesn't take as long as the embassy wants us to believe
@ Raj,

If you are considering going for an appeal, let me share my rejection experience with you.
1) My CSV was rejected last year, for another stupid reason and that document was not in the list of the documents on the DHA site, as well.
2) The embassy gave me 2 options, either appeal with the document missing or apply again, appeal can take up to a year however a new application with the missing document will be processed sooner, they in fact offered assistance to expedite my new application.
3) Taking their advise, I chose to apply again with the missing document, however when i called the embassy to expedite my new request as promised, they didn't do anything and i am still waiting for an outcome for a very long time.
4) This made me feel that i should have gone for an appeal as i was not at fault and clearly the embassy discouraged me to do so by offering false hope of help, with a new application.
5) Strangely, I also noticed that the date on the rejection letter was backdated by 2 weeks, when i checked online i realized that we can only appeal within 10 days of getting a decision, hence the embassy backdated the letter to stop me from going for an appeal, i case i would have chosen to.
6) Below is a link of an expat forum which has a lot of information about the appeal process, pros & cons, tips, some e-mail addresses of govt. employees who usually help, usual time lines for the same, etc.

http://www.expatforum.com/expats/south-africa-expat-forum-expats-living-south-africa/698786-rejection-appeals-what-do-when-your-application-has-been-rejected.html

I wish i had gone for an appeal, as i got a feeling that the embassy sounded scared when they explained my rejection reasons to me, somewhere they know what they are doing is wrong.

I hope this helps you, and i strongly recommend you to chose a good immigration lawyer in SA with some contacts in DHA, before you decide your next steps (refer to the blog).

Also, when did you apply for this CSV in the 1st place?

It's totally VFS fault
@Raj

Really sorry to hear that ur CSV got rejection, if it is not in the listed documents on VFS website then on what behalf they rejected. VFS must have to update their website.

Please check with them if u can appeal with the subject letter and a application that it's not mentioned in listed documents, and if it is required documents and because of the same they can reject ur application then how VFS accepted the application without that documents.

VFS supposed to do the administrative part and it's their responsibility too to check the things properly and inform the applicant.
Check with them

CSV Visa wait for over 2 months
@Raj, sorry to hear about your CSV rejection.

Its not on the list of documents but VFS asked me for this document at the Mumbai center. When i applied in the 1st week of December, i didn't have it from my previous employer. I submitted it in later, as soon as i received it from my previous employer.

If you go to the comments on this forum from December, u will see some of the guys stating that relieving letter is important for CSV. It seems a relieving letter makes your case stronger, especially when u apply for CSV without a job offer in SA.

When did u apply for ur CSV? Was this with a job offer in SA or without?
