Comments on this Consulate-General
Im actually Portuguese . How ever I mostly agree
With all of you . Not only I find my self calling and no one calls back
Or when you get some attention they can't do much . I'm fortunate that my
Mum still lives in Portugal and most of the times she will get things
Organized over therer ,10 times faster .
They sure need to get there act together .
It is crazy that in this day of Skype and video conferencing, there is no provision to obtain a working or temporary (greater than 90-day-stay) Schengen visa without having to take time off work AND incur the expense of return flights to Sydney for an interview. It will cost me upwards of $400, plus one day's lost wages, for a one hour interview. There is a Consulate in my home city. Just crazy.
Nobody will get back to you or reply because like I said before this is NOT their website!
Why not actually send them an email to their email address? Or even leave your name and number so that they can get back to? From my visits to the Consulate over the years I have noticed that the majority of the Potuguese nationals are really good at complaining, sometimes for no reason. After 20 mins of waiting they are already complaining! I wonder if they do the same when they go to Centrelink? By the way peolple I am not Portuguese! I am just married to one and have been to the Consulate several times. If you are all unsatisfied then make a written comlpaint, maybe that way Portugal will hire more people to work there. Do you all know that the Consulate is under staffed? They open to the public from 9-13 but stay in the office to late working for all the other Portuguese Consulates all over Australia and even NZ? Like I said before I am not Portuguese but respect the staff for their work and professionlism. Cope them some slack PEOPLE!
Hi
Can you advise how to apply for a birth certificate? I was born in Lisbon, Portugal. I will forward more details upon reply.
Regards
Sen
Not much has changed since I last dealt with this office a year ago.I wonder if anyone bothers to tell them to pull up there socks!
The service has to improve if Portugal wants tourist visit the country.
This site below may have information that many of you are looking for. I'm Aussie with Grandfather from Portugal and leaving in Japan. The embassy here isn't very helpful either. The embassy is supposed to be the window of opportunity to the country. http://www.secomunidades.pt/web/sidney
There is a consulate in Melbourne, where I live and I was happy to go into that office to discuss my needs, however I was told that I'd have to call the Sydney office...is this correct? Why can't the Melbourne office give me basic information? I'm wanting to go to Lisbon on a 6 months working holiday in January 2013. It seems silly that I can't do things face-to-face, or even over the phone, in my own state?
When i ring it says our opening time is from 9-1, what kind of government organization closes at that time? But when try to call, all the machine answers.....getting tired of this rules, going to contact Ministerio of negocios estrangeiros in Portugal and report them what is going on with this consulato, or better going to call canberra, may be they will tell what time they supos to open and also there is a lady without maneras....need to take care of that too... can some one do something about their opening and closing time...?thanks
What is the use of ringing and leaving messages, no every returns your call.
Not professional at all.
