hello sir,
my father had worked in the french army. I want to ask one doubt. if the person did not opted to conserve the French nationality at 1962 eventhough he worked in the French military can eligible for the pension. if he opted he can get military pension whereas if he did not opted he cannot get pension ?

military pension is based upon the French nationality or not? if he opted the French nationality only, he could get ah???. in case if he did not opted, they cannot given the military pension???

Sir,
I have seen your question today only. It is not enough that your father in law had worked under french regime. You have to know the effects of the Franco Indian treaty, 1956, on him. Aaccording to this treaty which came into force on 16.08.1962. If he was born in French India he should have opted in CGF at Pondicherry to conserve the french nationality. Otherwise he will become Indian w.e.f 16.081962. Yours sincerely

Jagadeesh- sub. fr. nationality
Sir,
To apply for cert, of fr, nationality, you have to prove by documents (B/c+M/c) that you are a son of a french father who himself born to a french father,In such a situation, you are still a french national, As born outside Fr, India, ie. in Indian Union, you were not civered by the Franco Indian treaty of cession, 1956 which came into effect on 16.8.1962. Under this treaty the natives of French born in French India, having completed 18 years of age and residing either in French India or Indian Union were required to make a dcclaration in writing to conserve the french nationality within a period of 6 months from 16.8.1962 to 15.2.1963. This will not apply to you as a minor born out of Frnech India. So you are french. Your mother also acquired French nationlity of your father by her marriuge. Yours sincerely
