Niranjan. To find out whether his grandfather subscribed the declaration of option to conserve his rench nationality,
Sir, In the above matter, you can address the Ministry of public health and population in Paris, Frabce, by enclosing with your application the certificate of his birth, residence and french nationality of your grandfather. As the Certificate of option was issued by the French consulate at Ponicherry, you can also try to get the information from this office. Yours sincerely,
Niranjan

Mr. Balaji- Sub. Indian visa of longer validity,
Sir,
I presume that your are a french national holding french passport. If you want to come to India and look after your step grand mother, you can contact the Indian Embassy in Paris and apply for the card of overseas citisen of India (O.C.I) which will provide you lifelong indian visa. The main condition to get OCI card is that you should prove that eiher your father or mother on grand parents were born in India.Further you will have to pay visa fee of about Rupees 15000/- or the equivalent sum in Euros. To my knowledge there are several french passports holders from India residing in France are enjoying the benefit of OCI card. I am at your disposal for futher details. With regards.

Short Stay visa with Longer validity
Good morning Kichenamourty sir,
First of all, I thank you and also appreciate your responses here. Each of them are very useful. About me, I am a french citizen (inherited through my mother)residing in France.
My query is:
My grandmother (stepmother of my father, FYI:biological Mother of my father passed away when he was born) ) is living in India. My grandfather and my stepgrandmother had not registered their marriage, as you know this is quite normal in those days. Now, I would like to apply for short stay visa with longer validity (say one year minimum with multiple entry for my stepgrandmother as I hold the sole responsibility to take care of her moraly, physically and financially. It seems that I need to submit some certificate showing this marriage proof along with the visa form. What should i do in this case since i dont have one?
Both of my grand parents were government employees and my grandma still receives pension. this is FYI.
best regards,
Balaji

Sahira Banu. Sub. French nationality. Regarding
Ms.
1st case.If you were a frenc citiwen born in French India, completed 18 years of age amd domiciled either in French India or outside in Indian Union on 16.8.1962, date of de jure transfer of french India to Indian Union, you have been given six months time from 16.08.1962 to 15,02.1963 to subscribe in the CGF at Pondicherry a declaration of option to conserve french nationality, If you are under this category and if you have made option, you conserve your french nationality, If you were a minor, this task was ginen to your father, if he is not alive, to your mother, if both parents are not live, to your guardian. Acording to the said treaty when a father, mother and guardian make their declaration of option they should include if they wish the names of their minor children/ward in their declaration of option,
2nd case. If you were born after 16.8.1962 in French soil or territory, your father or mother should be french. Then you can claim for CNF. I remain with this, to continue further, if you explain clearly your case. with regards.

Ms. Chandini- sub: visa marriage
Ms. After marriage in the mairie etat civil, you will have to take steps for the marriage certificate's attestation by (home dept) and apostille legalisation by the Branch office (external ministry) at Nungampakkam, Chennai. This office can also ask for english translation of the marriage certificate's. Then, you will have to apply in the etat civil, French consulate general at Pondicherry, for the transcription of your marriage and delivery of Livret de famille with marriage extracts. For this process it may take at least three months, because the transcription of marriage is done date wise. Finally you will have to go to the french visa processing centre at Pondicherry or chennai, according to your residential address and apply for french visa as a wife of french conjoint (husband). If you don't know french lasnguage, I advise you to study the same in the mean time. With regards,
chandhini

Mrs. Priya. Regarding her marriage in Singapore,
Madamm. If your marriage with a Pondicheryan is valid in Singapore marriage laws you can prosecute your husband in India if he marries again in India while having his wife living. He may be punished with imprisonement of either description (RI or simple) for a term which may extend to 07 years and also liable to fine. You can send your objection by registered post or e-mail to the marriage afficer in India who celebrates the 2nd marriage. Yours sincerely,
