Comments on this Consulate-General
Egypt as a country, is a disgrace!
What a disgraceful decision made by the Egyptian court. Journalists should be able to report with freedom and safety around the world knowing they will not be thrown in gaol for doing their jobs. Egypt....you're off my travel list. Release Peter, Mohamed and Baher immediately.
Egypt - I seriously cant believe you want the World to see you in this way. I thought your Country wanted to make a change, and there for awhile, the road you had taken, was showing, to be for the good of all. What have you achieved by putting innocent people, just doing there job in Jail - Peter, Mohamed and Baher let them go, and prove to the world that you are trying to bring Egypt to a Country that the whole world will look upon with awe.
What a pathetic decision by your country. I would encourage the Australian government to expel your diplomats and cut any supply of aid to Egypt.
What a miscarriage of justice and impingement on freedom of speech.
The jailing of Peter Greste is an illegal act. The Egyptian consular general is the representative of an illegitimate regime and should therefore have no diplomatic immunity and should be arrested for the crime. He should only be released once Peter Greste is released.
What a disgraceful verdict by a corrupt regime! I always wanted to visit Egypt but will not bother while you continue to persecute innocent people doing their jobs.
You should be ashamed of yourselves for what you have done - all over the world you are now seen as corrupt people with no legal system - how can you jail someone with no evidence .. I will never go to your country .. shame on you all
This ruling is an absolute disgrace. No evedence was provided yet they were still sentenced to 7 years in jail! Freedom of Speech is a large part of a democracy and if you are indeed sincere about bringing your Country into the 21st Century, start with this and set the 3 journalists free. Show the world you can be a fair and democratic society!
The treatment of the Al-Jazeera journalists shows your Government as having values worse than those of the Muslim Brotherhood. Post Arab-Spring, Egypt has has developed a reputation for being anti-democratic, vile towards women, and in total chaos. I used to think that amongst the Arab nations, Egyptians were educated and more transparent. The whole world now knows this could not be further from the truth.
an international disgrace -i call on all people to boycott your services /exports and cancel all investment and tourism to your dark ages nation
