My honest comments (not even derrogatory) of today were taken down immediately
That speaks volumes of your disservice to T&T citizens if they cannot even post of the horrendous experience they had.

Why is it so difficult to simply renew or apply for a new T&T passport?
My son's passport is expiring in 2015. Strangely enough it is not clear on the embassy's own website as to how to renew a passport; it does give instructions on how to apply for a new passport though.

In searching the internet, which should really not be necessary, it appears that renewing is like applying for a brand-new passport. And honestly doing so for my son was a trial by fire. It was the most horrendous experiences I/we have experienced. We live in CA. so had to deal with the embassy I think in MA. or NYC cannot recall which. But just calling for information (don't even email them they never reply unless it suits them) was really terrible. Runaround and vague replies abounded. Finally my son was able to get an appointment in Los Angeles at a 'mission' location. This was in one of the worst areas of L.A. and it was in a local neighborhood clinic! Could not believe it. So in addition to the application fee, the hassle, we had to pay an expense to travel and stay in L.A. just for this.

So if the renewal is going to follow the same pattern as applying for his first-time passport my son may rethink it. It is just horrendous.

And looking at these recent comments it gives me zero confidence.

I had thought that after 5 years since we went through this awful process things would have improved. It is an embarassment that things are either the same or have gotten worse.

Passport renewal.
To Paula,
You were one of the lucky ones, I have applied for my passport renewal since April of 2014, up to now no passport, and while having my application number someone called me from the office and said my birth paper is ready, I said to the lady I am awaiting my passport because I already had my birth paper to renew my passport and she said well she does not know how that is possible because they have my birth paper and I have the application number. They do not know what is going on in that office and every time I call no one will answer the phone.

I have lived in the US for the past 45 years, and thank God that I have a US passport. Two months ago I requested a copy of my birth certificate via priority mail, since then I have tried contacting the consulate by phone over a thousand times. I also email them, however, these idiots in the consulate office have no regards for anyone. This rude behavior is a disgrace for Trinidad,I have never encountered such poor service, shame on Trinidad.

Renewal of machine readable passport
I went to renew my machine readable passport on the 20th September and from the moment I entered the office everyone was kind, courteous and helpful to me. The officers looked and were very professional. I had a wonderful experience. The one drawback is that when you call the office no one answers but I guess they are "short~staff." Keep up the good work.

Staffing problems
Does anyone know if live people actually work in the Miami Embassy? It seems you cannot get past the automated messages to a real person. I called the New York office hoping for a better result. Using the appropriate extension I got the usual message from some guy named Harrington who wants you to leave a message. That would not be so bad if they actually returned your call, but they don't.

law suit in progress
Listen I have been in every1's shoes. If u want answers call Trinidad. If u cant do that, call the embassy then dial ext.1103 (that's the boss extension). Im taking them to court for theft among other things. do not give up.. keep pushing!! That NY embassy is filled with uneducated fools. They dont even follow their own policies.. thats why im suing them. It took me 8mths to get my passport (thats because I called 3 times a week.) U have to be determined. Call Trinidad if you have to 1868 625 8467 Olive Garcia ext 2033.... Thank me later.
