You have never met this friend in person, right? This is a common online scam: They befriend people online, arrange a "visit", and then claim that something has happened which requires you to pay money to save them.
Whatever you do, do not send any more money. These are professional scammers and will try to come up with any story to persuade you to keep throwing your money away.
It's unfortunate that people like this would prey on the generosity of kind strangers, but that's the world today.
someone is trying to scam or rob me for my money which i worked hard as a housermaid but just to let evryone knows used reverse psychology to people who are doing this they can be found out with in a week somebody befriended me in facebook in the name of stacey russel and gave me all the details asking me to help her to get the money where his husband deposited in natwest bank and i told her i dont need your money even if you want this money we can give it to the poor all of it my heart is ready to help but on the way i linger them because i am thinking and before i decide i click everything what is a scam and what they dod and how do they manipualate the mental mind of uneducated people like us sad to say i called all the numbers they gave me and see if there is similarity in thier voices that i recorded what fascinates me is the accent i am very aware of british accent and american accent and i cannot forget the voice of a person once i talk to him now when i went to netlog for my friend ask me to join somebody there poses as a good man well we talk and get to know each other in the internet i ask him to show his face to me but he said his cam is broken i gave him my number and he gave mine and what really interest me is the voice at the back of my mind i said to my self i heard this voice before and after three weeks of getting to know each other he told he is going to malaysia i said really ive been there now when he is in malaysia he told me after two days there that he is rob by an indian gangsterand ask money from me for he lost all his passport and credit cards i didnt jump to any giving he ask me but i check first the news in malaysia if somebody was really attacked thier for as far as i am concerned that is a muslim country and i barely seen that people were attacked in the daylight i told him i dont have money he is asking me 200 us dollars and after five days he ask me 800 pounds and i told him many times that british consulate are not going to deny help to thier fellow country men in state of need he said he stays at marriot hotel and a certain nelson ahmed is working there and helping him question is why would i give money to an english man or american man when they came from the richest country all over the world but his voicwe is not british though sounds like an imndian to me who lives in britain for long beware people somebody is taking your pics and post themselves as you are thanks and may this bastards rot in jail if ever found out
