Dear Sir
I am a UK resident with a Thailand Retirement Visa, living here in Chiang Mai.
Having seen the news recently in a newspaper that the British Embassy site in Bangkok has been sold may I ask:
1) Is there still to be a UK Consulate in Chiang Mai, that will still be processing the renewal of UK passports when needed, for those people residing in Thailand with an annual Retirement visa?.
2) Will I still be able to obtain a UK visitor's visa for my thai wife?.
3) Will the Bangkok UK Embassy disappear from THailand, if so, where will the nearest UK Embassy be?, or are we to just be abandoned and have to seek help elsewhere, if and when the need possibly arises?.

I am British and I need to renew my Thai driving licenses. To do this I need a Residence Certificate. You also need one to buy a motorcycle, apartment etc etc. The Immigration Office in CM no longer issues these documents and I am terribly ashamed to say that the British no longer have representation in CM in contrast to other nationalities that are opening consulates. So I have to fly down to Bangkok spend a night in an hotel and go and obtain this piece of paper from The British Embassy so that I can renew my drivers licenses. Where is the support for British nationals that you profess to hold so dear? You are all a waste of time and an utter disgrace.
