Comments on this Consulate-General
For people who have been waiting for their visas from Mumbai consulate, you only hope is to email request directly to the South African High Commissioner Mr. F. Morule. His email ID is fmorule@dirco.gov.za
If they are not giving the Visa is OK, but they are not even returning the passport. We submitted application to return the passport last week, till date no message from consulate or VFS. Now we want to go to other countries and Passport is with them.Don't know what is going on there.
No hope in getting visit visa before 45 working days. If you are planning a travel to South Africa, please apply for visa before 3 months and if you are lucky you will get visa. Mumbai consulate is too slow and processes only 5-7 visas per day. Till date people who have applied in January have not received visas. The VFS is another useless body which is helpless in this situation. Only solution is to email the South African Ambassador who sits in Delhi or apply from Delhi.
With regards
I would lyk to know that, there is any time limit if I got south african work permit and if I stay more then 3 months in abrode then any time limit for me.pls sir reply me
Thanks
We applied for Visa on 25th February till date, we don't have any message for the same. Our meeting already canceled with South African customer. We need to go Brazil now to participate in exhibition from 30th of this month. We there for applied to return our passport and never any message from consulate or VFS. We paid around Rs 10 Lac in that exhibition in Brazil and now we are unable to attend the show because of the of South African consulate. We there for request you to return our passport today itself, so that we can apply for Brazil Visa. for that we need to send the passport to New Delhi.
Our Application Numbers are
DHMU/250214/0018/02 and DHMU/250214/0018/01
If we will not get the passport by 20th March, this will be a very big loss for us.
We can understand the you may have problem of issuance of Visa due to Backlog. why you are unable to return the passports?

Most honourable and respected Sir/Madam:
I hope and pray that this letter finds your noble personality in the best of health and purest of spirits.
It is with much regret that I write to you. My parents have applied in Mumbai for a visit visa to South Africa in January, they were told that the applications will be processed within a week, but 50 days have passed, yet they have received none to date.
Therefore, I extend the most humble request for the swift issue of their visas, for the following reasons:
1) It has been years since we have seen each other; therefore we are very eager to meet each other.
2) Winter is approaching and they would feel it difficult to stay in S.A. during winter.
3) There is a family function that we would like them to attend in this month of March.
4) This month of March suits his schedule to travel to S.A. In case of delay he might not get a chance to visit us, as he is a very busy person.
And for many more reasons and as a matter of urgency I kindly request you to ask the department to process their applications as soon as possible, thereby permitting them to visit us.
I assure you that they will be staying in South Africa for the duration of their visas and return to India prior to the expiry date of their visas. Their previous several visits during the past years to South Africa act as a testimony for this fact.
We have always found your department to be kind and of much assistance. Your co-operation in this regard shall greatly be appreciated. I am positive that you will consider my humble request and process their application, taking into account its urgency.
Details of applications:
1) Saiyad Amjad Husen Saiyad Ahmed Attas K5595524.
2) Ayeshabibi Saiyad Amjad Husen Attas K6959508
Reference numbers: (1) Dhmu/230114/0016/01. (2) Dhmu/230114/0016/02
I really look forward to hear from you soon.
Thanking you in advance,
The consulate is no more returning passports according to the date of application. Due to the backlog in Mumbai- preference is given to applicants whose journey day is approaching.
