Comments on this Consulate-General
Hi Shane,
My friend living in Daman has applied for his BI last year in August, still has not received. Does it usually takes this long.
Thanks
Did you take your parent's Indian passports with their correct name ? And did you also change the names in the gazette ?
Once their names are proper in their current Indian passports only then will they change it.
They do corrections if the name is legally changed and your parents are alive. If they are dead, you can't change their name.
Of course they won't just change it like that. You'll have to go through the correct process. First tell me, do you want to change your father's name or morher's ? And are they alive ?
Denzil,
Thanks for the prompt response.
I am on business trip to UK and was thinking whether to stay back for a couple of days more and straight fly to Lisbon to apply for the Citizen card.
Can you please tel me the 1st 2 digits of your process number?
Ray - What BC corrections do you want exactly ? Your name or your parents ? You will have to first change the names in the gazette or make affidavits along with newspaper ads. Then you will require an ID proof with the new name
Anyone here can help with birth certificate corrections from Mumbai?
Liza/Emilia- Nobody knows which date cases are going on for before 61. They take more than 15 months as of today because they've to verify the case thoroughly. The team that handles cases with less chance of fraud, is on Nov 16.
Tommy - Now that they've verified, your agent is correct, there's nothing you can do but wait. The CRC are on vacation until September, so work is slow. It will get done when it's done, they are in no hurry.
If you are illegally in Britain or overstayed your visa, don't leave, given the current situation, they might not allow you back in even as a Portuguese citizen.
