I need help to get documentation done. I have just landed here. and have no contacts here. I am by myself.

the government web sites have many ifs and buts and not everything is clear.

There are many who have done this process using the portuguese passport and this is a unique process compared to the other countries ties with the UK.

If you cannot help, its alright.

I am only asking for those who can help.

And this forum is for anything related to Portuguse passport... and not only for those in India.

Timmy, this forum is for discussion on Portuguese nationality for Goan's and not for visa information or assistance. So please do some research yourself as its all mentioned on UK govt website and its a simple English. UK govt website has all your answers and also a document advisor tool which will help u

Joao, its good that u have submitted all correct docs but still all pre 1961 cases go through verification by MEA. U can be little lucky if your dads docs are available on Goa online website for verification but that is also upon decision of CRC official whether to route the verification thru MEA or get it verified online.

Good luck to u with your case and if all your docs are genuine, u will get ur dads assento on 20-24 months.

Pre-1961 birth registration
Hello Friends,

Submitted documents for my dad's birth registration.
All BC's and other docs legalized by MEA etc.
Also submitted his original documento para viagem.
I've read thru previous posts and it seems like pre-1961 case take longer. Now having submitted all of his original (issued by the Portuguese) documents, will it still undergo the verification process via New Delhi etc?

I appreciate your responses, feed-back and guidance.

Muito obrigado!

Saudades,

Joao

Church documents not being attested by MEA
Sharly, stop making this topic or forum into religion biased. Goa is no where into religious malpractices and misunderstandings. Bombay may be one of the places but by SFX grace, Goa is still a peace loving land. Yes! MEA is not attesting church docs due to organizational nature and being a public organization in a democratic country it has limitations. Being born as Indian it was your or your parents duty to legally register your or theirs birth in Portuguese administration during Port. rule or in Civil registrar after liberation. however if they haven't done it den plz don't blame the MEA or any political party for it. If at all u have to blame den blame yourself or ur parents... During Port rule in Goa all births & deaths were recorded not only in church but also in Civil offices.

Regarding temple certificates. MEA is also not attesting any certificate from Temple or Masjid also coz its identity of being genuine document is very less. Prove me one case where a temple doc was attested by MEA!!

And your last sentence says nd so now the process of registering birth in Portugal for Catholics is further delayed,,, Remember one thing! Port nationality is not dependent on your religion but on the documents you have to prove that you or your ancestor was a Portuguese born person.

Don't Create religion fuss here nor a Political one. If you don't have Civil docs den blame yourself or your parents for that.
