Comments on this Consulate-General
I have been told by my agent that MEA since June 2018 has refused to attest church documents like Baptism and Marriage certificates. They are however attesting documents issued by temples. This is creating a huge hurdle for people from other states in India whose parents were born in the erstwhile territories of Goa, Diu and Daman. Church documents are the most well preserved documents that we have since time eternal. Hundred of years of church documentation is well preserved and Govt documents dated to 1970s are lost due to rodents and insects that have destroyed them. And so now the process of registering birth in Portugal for Catholics is further delayed thanks to the BJP Govt and its anti religion policies and politics. so please be aware and prepare accordingly.
MY CASE IS 2013 SUBMITTED TO CRC
The CRC or Embassy (goa), depending where you applied for your case, normally dont reply as they get many emails like this, and if you gave power of attorney to a lawyer/agent to submit your case they wont reply to you.
Verification is long for almost all pre 1961 cases. Is that your case ? how long since you applied ?
pre 1961 takes 24 months or more from what people have reported in the forum, if you look at earlier posts.
Also, I think your lawyer meant in court, meaning you go to the ministry of justice in portugal and apply as to why your case is pending so long. (something people rarely do or have done from observation)
That information is wrong and you need to immediately terminate your case with your agent as the likelihood of him cheating you of thousands of rupees runs very high!
Birth verification has not stopped. It is slower at the MEA New Delhi side. If online verification is possible, then it should not matter. Get your Teor scanned online ASAP.
Dev borem korum!
