I think you should do an official complaint against X stating clearly what transpired and have a discharge copy of it to prove that your information was at risk. It may be used, yes, but at least you have proof that it was not done by you because you complained officially.

i was looking for a job online. i sent resume to every job hiring that interest me. after few days, i received an email from diane anderson smith confirming my resume they received. we continued emailing until a friend of mine advice me to visit this site and i found out that it was a scam.
im in a delimma right now since i already provided personal information and sent a scanned copy of my passport. my friend told me that all they want is my identity and will use it for some reason, might be another person will use my identity.i am afraid that this might cause harm to any application i might have in the future.
can you please advise me on what to do in this matter?.

same problem. i sign up in odesk.com and there is a notification from draycott hotell that they are hiring staff and I got interested so I applied for it for an Internet service expert. after answering 2 sets of questionners they sent me contract of agreement saying that I'm qualified for the said position the draycott hotell Manager is the one who is sending me named Melissa stoman it is written in the contract that they will pay for visa, plane ticket and other expenses except for work permit and I will be paying that thru money gram or western union. so asked if they have a counterpart here in the Philippines then she give the Abba personnel services then I went there the agency that the draycott not in there list of client so I guest this is a fraude. beweare!!
