PAUL BIYA FAKES NATIONAL IDENTITY
Charges to establish National Identity Card reduced

By Grace Ongey

ID
Ahead of the 2011 Presidential elections, President Paul Biya has reduced the cost of establishing a National Identify Card from FCFA 7000 to 2800. While making public the Head of State’s decision, the Minister for Communication, Issa Tchiroma Bakary, explained they were part of measures to incite Cameroonians of voting age to register and take part in upcoming elections.

The measures include tax exemption on required civil statutes documents, the setting up of mobile identification teams in rural areas to assist those living far from fixed identification posts and providing supplies and photographic material in identification and production centres, among others. The decision states identification posts will open daily from 7:30am to 5:30pm daily and from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays.

Cameroonians have been requested to report any additional financial demands made to the Delegate General for National Security. The communiqué further indicates no payment is to be made to withdraw National Identity Cards. The Delegate General for National Security has also announced that people who have abandoned their National Identity Cards in identification centres should collect them. The exercise which will run up till April 30, 2011 has been estimated at FCFA three (3) billion.

Pa. NDEFRU

THE STORY BEHIND THE NATIONAL ID CARD IS MORE THAN THIS,WHY IS IT THAT THIS PROJECT IS IN THE HANDS OF A FRENCH COMPANY IN VAN CENTRALIZED IN Y,NDE AND NOT IN THE REGIONS AS SOME YEARS AGO? THIS FRENCH GUYS MAKE SO MANY MISTAKES ON THOUSANDS OF ID CARDS,SEND THEM TO THE WRONG PLACES,OVER 300 UNCLAIMED ID CARDS IN A SMALL SUB DIVISION IS PROVE OF THIS.PEOPLE SUFFER THE FADE OF DOBBLE ID,S AND HAVE NO ADVICE ON THIS AND THEN WHEN YOU GO FOR A PASSPORT U GET STUCK AND HAVE TO PAY HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS TO DELETE ONE ID FROM THE SO CALLED COMPUTER.IS THIS A PROJECT TO DUB US OR TO HELP US.EVEN WITH A BIRTH CERTIFICATE YOU ARE STILL REQUIRED TO MAKE A CERTIFICATE OF NATIONALITY.ALL THIS AND CERTIFYING DOCUMENTS AND STAMPS STILL BRING THE COST BACK TO 7000cfa.how then has the cost reduced?we only seem to be kidding in this country
