No sister any applications before the contract ended will not be affected, brother Saif has been granted his visa today so it shows that this does not apply to applications submitted before the contract came to an end.

Inshallah you will hear good news soon

Got this email from MP yesterday

Dear *****

Thanks for getting in contact.

The Home Office’s service standards are not something that they consider binding; previous discussions with them have always yielded the answer that they are guidelines to provide an indication of typical waiting times. Cases which take longer than their service standards are frustrating but unfortunately we cannot use the waiting period having expired as a tool to get them to process applications more quickly. Please be assured however that Barry regularly communicates his dissatisfaction with cases exceeding these standards.

I know some ETS cases are being resolved, as another constituent recently received a decision on his case which had been on hold due to the TOEIC/ETS situation. They seem to be subject to more investigation due to the nature of the misconduct by that company, but it appears that some cases at least are making their way through so I do not think that it is an indefinite wait whilst the Government gets on top of the situation. Barry thinks it is unacceptable that the Government has not yet done so.

I know from long experience that when cases are taking longer due to security checks (and this will include the ETS situation, even though nobody is saying there is any wrongdoing in your specific application) the Home Office refuse to answer in any detail. This is due to operational reasons, and also means they are inflexible.

Indeed Barry has asked them strongly to look at how these cases can be better progressed, and has received firm notification that there is no discretion whatsoever, and that they cannot either bump cases up the queue or override the investigations all ETS cases are currently being subjected to.

I’m sorry not to be able to be more positive about this situation. I continue to work on this issue, and will update you when I receive any updates either generally or pertinent specifically to your case.

Kind regards
