Sponsoring Spouse
I just wanted to share our sponsorship experience thus far with other readers who may be in the same position. I am from Canada and am sponsoring my husband (who resides in India) to come to Canada. We applied in early 2012 and now it is late 2013. We have a daughter together but sadly he has not had the opportunity to hold her yet. She's never met her father...who knew applications took this long. Even before the strike my approval took 3 months due to backlog and then we submitted his passport in August of last year. It stated the timeline for visa's was 10 months at the time and we were already in one year. Now I believe the website states 11 months for a visa. Regardless of what it says it has been a very, very, very, long wait. There are no issues with his application nor mine. Not only is our wedding legitimate but family members were present, my husband has met my whole family (in pictures submitted to New Delhi, he has never travelled out of the country, no criminal record, health check passed and paperwork is in order. Now there is the PAFSO strike...looks like we still have a long wait to go. Unbelievable but true. It's sad to hear of the inefficient discrepancies of processing visas...some people take 3-5 months, others 9 months and then ...I guess a year or two in a case like ours?? LOL....ahhh...that's life.* Let go and let "GOD" deal with it. ;)
