worst system ever
I have tried to get my husband to british columbia, I have been waiting 7 months and have had no word from anyone in the canadian embassy in kingston . I have a friend that just married a UK girl and there paper work was put in Oct. 1 my husband drove him to the airport on Dec 16 6 weeks and he was out of the country. I dont know what problem jamaica has with canada but This whole process is a joke it is horrible that the government treats people this way. Ofcourse there is someone to pay but to find out who that person is, is a challenge please let me know if you know. Good luck

Canadian Embassy in Kingston
My husband and I applied for him to have a visitors visa to come and visit Canada. Sadly he was denied! I am furious. Aman of 48 with no criminal record, been working his whole life, and me, working for the transit system in Canada paying over 20,000 CAD per year in taxes and my husband is not even able to visit me. I dont want to sponsor him, because in addition to my "JOB" I am the founder of a charity that builds schools and supports community development in Jamaica! I have heard that the best way to get a VISA to Canada is to pay someone 180,000.00 JMD and you can get what you want! Sad state of the world ! If you are rich you can be a criminal and still get out of Jamaica, but being an honest working person, will keep you trapped in Jamaica forever.

work permit application
It's been two months now since i've submitted my application to the embassy-bearing in mind that they have most of my important documents. I have not heard a thing from them and it doesn't even make sense calling them because there is no one to speak to. I can't believe we Jamaicans are paying for such sloppy service.

Need Communication
How is it possible that there is absolutely no way to determine the status of a visa application? If someone has your passport - your primary source of identification in this world, they should be 100% accountable for that passport and should be required by law to return it to you without delay when asked. Not having lines of communication open is unacceptable and shameful for an organization associated with Canada.

Very insulting
I agree with all the following posts. How can a government have an embassy within the bounds of its country and it cannot intervene in anyway on behalf of its citizens. I applied for permanent residence visa which I understand which takes a far longer time to be completed than a visiting visa. In fact years. However, my point is, The Canadian Embassy does not general not respond to your queries. I find to be so rude and disrespectful. While I understand there is a backlog, they need to find a way to respond to your queries.

Will any of your concern be address here?
I am not presently living in Jamaica but I cannot understand what kind of governance there is. How could any leader of its people fall asleep so badly in the middle of a busy highway? These are some of the reason for the ghastly treatment Jamaicans constantly receive abroad; if our own leader does not value us at home why would anyone else for that matter.
I just happen to come across this website by chance in my search for some semblance of clarity of the structure within which the Canadian embassy do operates. I have a nephew sitting in Jamaica for over two years waiting to hear from the Canadian Embassy for a response to an application for a visa without a response at all.
My question is what is the person under whom portfolio this affairs fall is doing about this issue? This situation has long pass prejudice and racial injustice when a government show no care for its own citizens by allowing this type of behaviour to go unchallenged in broad daylight. If the Canadian embassy is not in Jamaica to facilities the Jamaican people as well as their citizens living or working there what are their purposes? And yet Jamaica as a nation is classified as the most violent place with equally aggressive people. I would say as a people that Jamaican have lost the fire in their belly; Nanny, Paul Bogle, Sam Sharp, William Gordon to name a few must be turning over in their graves.
The Canadian embassy has offered their services to Jamaican for a fee, right? Therefore the Jamaican government must hold them accountable accordingly; neither is the Canadian embassy alone in this type of ruthless performance. The powers that be should step up and regulate the operation of these embassies, after all, they are on your soil, if they will not adhere then close then down. There’s no love lost there. Who amongst us would accommodate any abuse from any guess in their home; definitely not I! Therefore why are we paying these people to treat us even worse than the slave masters did to our ancestors?
Discussing the matter on this forum is like writing a letter and posting it under ones mattress. They’ve been getting away with murder under the watchful eyes of a blinded government without any duty of care for its people; do they even care? Cowards!
Jamaicans do you realize that it’s your hard earn cash that is paying for the Canadian embassy up-keep, including paying these people that show such high level of disregard for you all as human being or individual? I would suggest to all you Jamaican, stop supply the vampire baby with bottles of nourishing milk, and see how long they could survive. Then they will come to their senses, play them at their own game; after all, they are only taking your monies and not giving the visas anyway, the only thing they provide you with is their silly excuses. It’s a scam! That’s white-collar crime in a nutshell.
