My insurance company repudiated my claim because they do not acknowledge my drivers Malawian SADC Drivers license as legal in SA. According to them he also needed a International permit, it is my understanding that the SADC license is a international license approved by all SADC countries?

My husband has been told several times by traffic officers to convert his Malawian driver's license to South Afican one. He went to Dorp Street in Cape Town and one of the requirements was to get a letter from the High Commission of Malawi. Can you please advise on what is the process for thiS and how long it takes to get thr letter?
