Comments on this Consulate-General
Hello:
I'm planning to visit Budapest for 4 day on Sept. This year traveling from Vienna. I hold a Canadian passport, do I need a visitor visa? Also, can I stop at your Consulate at Toronto to pick up some tourist brochures, events and city maps?
Thank you
A word of advise for anyone trying to get a passport: DON'T! Unless you have years of patience of course. If I had $250,000, I could buy my Hungarian passport; being a Hungarian by birth and by citizenship guarantees me nothing.
No idea why these things happen but I can only conclude that it has to do with inefficiency, overblown bureaucracy, self-importance, and general non-caring.
Not much has changed in 32 years, eh?

Dear Sir or madam,
Am I really considered that I could be worthy of a Hungarian passport is it acceptable that me grand parents are great grand parents were Hungarian citizen, and only my Father and Uncle were borne in Canada We are Canadians of Hungarian descent.
I love that my entire paternal lineage is is 100+ Hungarian: the other half is Scottish. My Great-great Grandparents could apply for a Hungarian passport offspring?
I have always wanted to see all of Hungary; from Budapest to bucolic farmland.
My Hungarian-born Grandma married a Hungarian born drunkard. My (paternal) greatgrandfather was usually drynk and prowling the neighbourhood drank like a fish and when he gave my Grandma VD, Great Grandpa Sandor, told him to keep away from their farm, Grandpa Sandor was such a king, gentle and sweet man. I miss him.
My (Hungarian) grandma eventually married a gentle kind man who was born in Hungary, and eventually has another son with him.
Half of my lineage is Hungarian. My Grandpa and others were born in Hungary.
Should I apply for Hungarian citizenship? Spoken Hungarian is like a lullaby to me and although my ability to speak, read, pronounce, or answer in Hungarian is week, I intend to to take the classes offered by my Grandparent's church, St. Margaret.
If I were a dual citizen; Hungary and Canada, I could not possibly be happier, and I am going to do my best to learn to speak and write Hungarian, the next time classes are offered, closer to Fall.
I wold/will never not be a burden in anyway upon the Hungarian welfare or medical/dental services. I pay for optometry, and dental care myself. Together with the money in the bank, I hold another $400,000.00+ in real estate. I am currently 'worth' about $650,000.00 CAN. I would invest some of that in Hungary.
The only other place in the EU that I would explore, possibly for more than a month would be both Herculaneum and Pompeii.
I do not have a criminal record, nor would I ever.
I leave Hungary in the firm, trustworthy hands of Mr. P.M. Orban
God Bless.
Jennifer
Nem értem miért kell majdnem másfél évet várni egy házasság anyakonyvezesre. ....:((
I spent some time in Austria in 1983.
I saw lots of tolerance towards the "ungarische temperament".
It made me think, that I might want to incorporate tolerance
into my ungaricshe temperament.
After 32 years, I am recognized again as a Hungarian citizen.
I would like to thank the consulate in Los Angeles, California, USA for the nice job.
Respectfully yours;
Waste of time. These people are not helpful in any location. Including Los Angeles where I reside. Extremely rude and condescending . Pathetic
