Subject: ENO TREE PLANTING DAYS IN SCHOOLS ACROSS SIERRA LEONE
Dear Sir/Madam,
Environmental Online which I am fortunate to be the National Coordinator for Sierra Leone please see attached certificate- is a global virtual school and a voluntary network for sustainable development with strong commitment in planting 100 million trees by 2017 across the world.
The ENO Tree Planting Days - 8 May, 2016 for biodiversity and 21 September, 2016 for peace aims to
· Empower schools and communities towards environmental themes through activities
· Add global awareness and internationality
· Educate for active citizenship
· Get schools from developing countries as active participants
· Make a change together
Since the launch in 2000, over 10 0000 schools in 157 countries have joined ENO and made concrete deeds for the environment like planted trees.
SiSTec-(Sierra Schools of Technology) is working in partnership with ENO Programme Association based in Finland by promoting environment for development in both national and International school level. It is a non-profit local NGO that provides free technological classes and provides Internet Classes for young people in schools. It was established 2007 by patriotic Sierra Leoneans who had studied computer Science and Telecommunication.
We are kindly asking British High Commission in Sierra Leone to partners with us in providing support at the level (Banners, Poster, Flyers, transport or accommodation). The Ministry of Agriculture Forestry and Food Security in Sierra Leone has promised to support us with 20.000 Trees to be planted in all Schools in the western and northern areas. We believe, with active partnership, Sierra Leone will be achieved the Red+ process.
In terms of resources and institutional capacity, SiSTec has a rich mixture of trained professionals to delivery myriad skills to our beneficiaries.
Secondly, in terms of accessibility to beneficiary communities and schools, we do have a very good working relationship with schools as well as colleges. This in fact has made our programs very successful over the years.
Once again, I want to take this opportunity in thanking the British High Commission for reaching out on this programme. We will be very much glad to explore as much possibilities of us working collaboratively as necessary in keeping the ENO initiative to be one of its kinds in Sierra Leone.
On this note, we hope you find this request and attached documents relevant in determining what level of support you can consider for the initial process given our current capacity.
Best regards,
Elongima Bundu
