I'm convinced that no one works here!
Does anyone else feel like throwing the phone across
the room, when calling this place?

Grant Citizenship for Descendants of Expelled Jews
Dear Sir,

We are Sephardi Jews. Our family who come to Ottoman empire before 500 years ago, exiled from Portuguese kingdom. We still speak at home old Porto_Spanish as old accent as spoken 500 years ago.
Are we eligible to obtain Portuguese citizenship as new law ?

Thanks
Vitali

ANYONE
This consulate still works like it is 1886. No one picks up a phone. It is almost impossible to get any information or contact anyone there. 23 messages and no one has ever called back.

Thanks my friends. I guess Salazar knew what he was doing back then.

Passport question
Di we need a current birth certificate to renew a expired Portuguese passport at the Vancouver consulate.
We are in Edmonton and no one will answer the phone out there. Not sure if they have people working there or just answering machine.
Oh ya, do we have to have an appointment to get it renewed or just walk in if they are actually open.
Someone please email me at isletlake@aol.com if you know the answers for sure.

WRONG INFORMATION-COSTLY
I am writing to let you know that I have been there twice to get my mom the survivor pension from my dad who passed away. I still have not been able to get it all resolved because I keep running into problems. I paid $40 for a letter composed by your office to send to Portugal which turned out to be completely useless. Your office is telling me I need to get a contribution# for my mom and in Portugal they are telling me the complete opposite. Why can't your office call the office in Portugal to get this # because this back and forth is not working and I can't be taking more and more time off work to get this done. And because my mom is ill, it's very difficult to make her come down to your office. She has anxiety issues and has panic attacks when she is in a crowed area. She cannot wait for hours to be seen. I have to bring my mom down by cab which is very costly. And the money I paid for the letter, will I get reimbursed for this?
