Any development?
Please give us any information if you have seen or heard anything from Louie Russel Ciriaco his contact number is 218-918-171-268. Last time we spoke was around 12 am February 25th (Friday) this is the local time for Libya. They were trying to cross the border heading to Tunisia at the same date on or around 5:00am. In total of 8 people and they used to work for Shinhan Engr. Inc, their employer was also with them. Please give us an update, if you heard anything from anyone. Thank you very much.

Pick-up points for evacuation in Libya
My nephew Blake Cavada is among those trapped in Benghazi, Libya and has been asking requesting that a representative from the Phil. embassy help them evacuate.

It is clear that the embassy lacked the preparedness / manpower / resources to locate all the OFWs in Libya & pick them all up. This is supposed to be what some of our OFWs are waiting for na sunduin sila sa embassy, so that their passports will be released by their employers.

Pres. Aquino issued a statement on tv awhile ago that designated pick-up points be made for the embassy to evacuate the OFWs "to minimize risks". The thing here is that communication lines are down/irregular & there is no word from the embassy whatsoever as to where should the OFWs be picked-up for evacuation.

Since a commercial plane is offered by the government for those who will brought home (at the govt's expense), my question is how will the trapped OFWs go to the airport if it's quite far from them? Also, traveling by land to Egypt or Tunisia is more dangerous.

How about for those near the Benghazi Port, the Phil. Govt charter a ferry boat and pick the OFWs there?

My point is, we should ALL write or CALL the EMBASSY and URGE THEM TO DESIGNATE PICK-UP POINTS, DATE & TIME NEAREST TO OUR FAMILIES and we'll relay this to them, since we know that the embassy hardly has the time to call each & every OFW in Libya. Evacuation must start now! Time is of the essence, esp that the Former Libyan Prime Minister issued a statement that Gadhafi has biological weapons & wont' hesitate to use them.

We can't wait for the embassy to act, we have to find ways to be coordinators or relay points (or message senders to both our family members in Libya & the embassy) so that the evacuation process will finally start.
