Uncontactable Embassy
I tried to send an email to this embassy, it bounced with the message 'mailbox over quota'. So I tried to send a fax but this too failed.

I guess either no-one is home or nothing is turned on at this embassy.

Next I'll try registered mail.

Hope they are not expecting much foreign investment!!!.

an appeal
DATE: 4 July, 2011

TO: GHANA HIGH COMMISSION OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
THROUGH: GHANA CONSULATE REPRESENTATIVE
MANILA, PHILIPPINES.

DEAR COMMISSIONER,

RE: WE, GHANAIANS IN PHILIPPINES BOTH MARRIED, BACHELORS, MISSIONARIES AND STUDENTS HAVE THE INNERMOST CONCERN ABOUT UPGRADING STATUS BETWEEN GHANA AND THE PHILIPPINES. WE WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS THAT DEEP ARRANGEMENT NEED TO BE EXERCISED FOR WE ARE UNJUSTLY AFFECTED IN EVERY ARENA OF HUMAN DIGNITY. WE ARE APPEALING THAT THE GHANA CONSULATE REPRESENTATIVE MAY HAVE MORE POWER TO EXERCISE DUTIES OR RESPONSIBILITIES THAT IS NEEDED FOR US GHANAIAN CITIZENS HERE IN THE REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES FOR COMMON GOOD.

Warmest greetings!

We are hereby respectfully recommending permanent or at least strong or upgrading ties between the two countries. We write to inform for the above-mentioned foremost purpose. As the number of Ghanaians grows yearly, it is raptly to seek for appropriate care as the needs arises among Ghanaians here in Philippines. We therefore have set the notion with plea that this appeal otherwise may grow full awareness for the urgency need of the people. Beside this is to encourage full business promotions between the two nations.

That, we married couples are informing that some Ghanaians have been imprisoned in the cause of two year probation of visa justification. We who have marriage have only two years renewable Temporary Residence Visa (TRV) with heavy expenses. Owning to this many couples can’t make it all life eternal resulting imprisonment when caught of overstaying by Philippine Immigration Authorities.

That, we married families need to have consultation regarding this urgent need for permanent visa in Philippines which will eventually cater the complete care of each family members as some has decided to stay with their family here in the Philippines. For example I, Lawrence Agyemang Kwarteng born in Ankamateng in Sefwi Bekwai, Western Region, raised in Sekondi-Takoradi marriage here in Philippines since 1992 yet without permanent resident visa.

That many or some Ghanaian has been imprisoned for false accusation of drug trafficking, improper justification of behavior, sexual accusations; forge documentations, etc without proper justice to find out for such judgments.

That, the renewal of passport of bi-transporting in much cases result in lost along the way or distorted in many reasons; the enduring of posting; insecure of posting national’s property to another country for renewal, open communication thru email or any vessel of internet which leads to open identification scams. Improper identifications and examination whether the applicant is native Ghanaian or not.

That Ghanaian students here in Philippines are in great frustration, proper school to choose, visas, and care consideration as at least working student “if” needed to sustain some expenses. We are somehow improper handled by the institutions one way or other, for example in documentations especially student visa procedures. That many or some Ghanaian student are abused, leading the students with perplexities, inner pain and worries unable to cope with their studies for the betterment of their hope, future career and dreams.

That many different nationalities uses Ghanaian passport or some customs because of improper reexamine of identities and nationalities when necessary.

That a Ghanaian is experiencing loneness in this strange and struggle land, because there is no one to turn to when life goes red or Ghana Government officials to consolidate for proper actions or advices when needed most. The land is strange because culture and worldview are different.

That trans-business of technology or human resources for the two countries is fast growing in such multiple demands which need proper attention.

Beside, enshrined in our Constitution is the State policy to recognize the sanctity of every individuals and the citizen of the people of Ghana and to protect and strengthen each member as an autonomous social institution and culturally sound nation. Since Ghana exist, the State provides special protection and care to every individuals or organization or institutions from all conditions prejudicial to their development or betterment and observes that best interest is being the paramount consideration in all actions concerning every sect or individuals. Various laws sturdily desire to maintain a strong and united people as one Ghana and Ghanaians.

The upgrading of ties between the two countries (Ghana-Philippines relationship) would be very consistent to the foregoing State policies as it would promote and strengthen the two and enable to care, protect, and exercise joint parental authority over each country’s citizenry. Certainly it will promote human rights development and protection by the State and even parents respectively. It will also promote business as well.

It is our hope and prayers that Ghana High Commission would consider the need of this urgency especially the deep concern of your people whom you care most.

Hoping for your favorable response we remain.

Sincerely yours,
Bro.Lawrence Agyemang Kwarteng
