Seeking funding assistance for Community Garden Project
Ongoma Gardens is a registered non-profitable garden project/business approved by the minister of industrialization, trade and SME development as stated in the Government Gazettte No. 4460 dated 15 April 2010. It was founded by Mrs. Wilhelmine Haikela in 2014 as a family garden and later in 2015 as the project expanded the community and the less privileged and the needy also started to benefit from this project, thus it became a community project. The statement of needs for this garden project includes the following problem points as indicated below:
1. Garden tools and equipments
There is a need for proper and sufficient working tools and equipments to and work the soil and to clear of stones.
2. Generator Machine and Watering Pipes
There is a need for an adequate generating machine to pump water or to create an adequate link or watering channels for the plants.
3. Fence
There is a great need to fence this garden to protect it from various animals such as monkeys, dogs, and against thief’s.
4. Green house
There is a need for shelter of these vegetables against extreme sun heat and winter colds.
5. Pests and insects
There is a need for pestilence against harmful pests and insects that can negatively affect the vegetables.
