Harassment bias
Why, when many other tourists in religious garb were also sharing steps in Venice, were only we Americans asked to move?? We had bought food and souvenirs from local merchants, whereas the others clearly brought food from home. Is this treatment exclusive to American tourists? How insulting and foolish- never bite the hand that feeds you!

Get a receipt
The Hotel Colombina must have a racket going with Transfer services because they refuse to give out any type of receipt or EVEN tell me the name of the service company or their phone number. I just required a simple receipt so I could get reimbursed and they refused and were very rude about the whole matter. I was told they were probably skimming off the top and also wanted to keep this transaction under the table. The counter people and the waiter were also very rude.

POLICE RIP-OFF AT AIRPORT...........BEWARE!!
My wife and I bought bus tickets and then boarded a bus from Marco Polo Airport to Venice. We got on the bus with all our luggage, struggled onto the bus, found a seat and sat down. Within 30 seconds, a transportation cop approached us and asked to see our tickets which we had bought from a machine 10 minutes earlier. I produced the tickets and the cop said "they are not validated" and pointed to the machine at the front of the bus. I said "ok fine, I'll validate them" at which point she said, "Too late ! that will be a 60 Euro fine for each of you !We were forced to pay 120 Euros on the spot! In the meantime, an older local Italian woman got on the bus right behind us and sat down. The cop said to her "go validate your ticket", which she did and then returned to her seat.............no penalty of fine for her !!
My point is, they prey on exhausted, disoriented tourists at the airport who aren't quite aware yet of the Italian validation system on buses. They then did the same to another couple of travelers on the same bus.
Welcome to Italy!

IMMIGRATION TO THE U.S.A.
THIS GENTLEMAN IS 60 YEARS OLD AND FELL IN LOVE WITH MIAMI AND THE U.S.A. HE IS A PROFESSIONAL PLUMBER WITH EXPERIENCE IN POOL INSTALLATION, AIR CONDITIONING, FIRE PROTECTION INSTALLATIONS, AND MANY OTHER SPECIALTIES. IS THERE ANY CHANCE FOR HIM TO GET A DOCUMENT THAT WILL ALLOW HIM TO WORK IN THE U.S. LEGALLY? HE IS A BUSINESS MAN WITH FUNDS THAT WOULD ALLOW HIM TO GET STARTED IN AMERICA.

WOULD YOU PLEASE REPLY TO ME AND TELL ME WHAT HE SHOULD DO? WOULD YOU SET UP AN APPOINTMENT WITH HIM IN VENICE TO DISCUSS HIS SITUATION? HE IS A SERIOUS MAN AND WOULD BECOME, IN TIME, AN EXCELLENT AMERICAN.
