Seriously under staffed
My recent experience at the Chengdu consulate was not very pleasant. I had an appointment and was told on the site to arrive a little early. I got there about 20 min before my appointment and then had to wait another 20 min past my appointment time. There were only 2 people working with a room full of people. The "Interviewers" called out numbers but no one had a number so everyone just looked around wondering what to do. They girl that was supposed to be paying attention was busy talking to her friends and neglected to tell anyone who was next up to the window or would send someone to a window that was not finished yet. This procedure had everyone confused. The web site said it would take 30 min to add pages but mine took almost 2 hours after they took my passport. There was no water, reading material or anything to help pass the time. We were not allowed to bring anything with us except paper work. One person even tried to take my glasses! So, I sat there from 1:35 to 4:00 staring at the workers behind the window. This was Not pleasant and there definitely is room for improvement so that this process is not so uncomfortable. It is not the DMV!!!
