I need help. Please: the Brazilian embassy is't very helpful or friendly
Dear Office of the US Embassy: Please help me. My husband and I are going to be in Rio over New Year's and stay there until Jan. 5th, staying at the Hotel
Astoria in Copa. Then we are taking the Aznara cruise to Buenos Airs. We already have our Visas. The State Department suggested we register with you.
The Brazilian Consulate in Beverly Hills and NY weren't very friendly.
We took in a Brazilian foreign exchange student in 1988 (he was in the 11th grade at Granada Hills High School in Granada Hills, Calif. on Zelzah Street, and his name is Antonio C. Tarre (I think it's Antonio Carlos or Claudio) Tarre and he was born April 2, 1971 or 1972, and he lived in Rio. He left Granada Hills High School to return to Rio and he was studying law. He was a junior and I think his mother's name was Oliveiria) and I think his parents are in their late 60's.HIs mother was a teacher.
Could you please see if you can locate him for us so we can see him when we are in Rio?
He's about 6 ft. tall and has dark brown/black hair.
He stayed with us at: 17158 Citronia Street, Northridge, Calif. 91325 where we still live, and our son's name is Corey Walker. Our home phone is: 818-886-3013, and my husband's cell phone is: 310739-8142 and mine is: 310-717-8228, and our fax is: 818886-3014.
He might be the person listed under Antonio Carlos Tarre Carhoval de Oliveiria who is a trbunal justica but I'm not sure.
I know he also had a younger sister.
The Brazilian Consulate in the US doesn't have a phone book.
Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Please le3t me know either way.
Thanks. Happy holiday.

What is a good gift to take from the USA to a host or hostess in Brazil?
We are visiting some extended family that we don't know very well. They have helped us with our travel arrangements and I think we will visit them at their home. What can we bring with us from the US that would be appreciated as a thank you gift?
