In August I spent a fotune phoning Pretoria to find the cost of a Passport & was refered to a Web site where the coST was quoted as R1600 plus registration costs.I duly sent the application plus banker's cheque & waited. On 22/09/11 I received a call from the passport office saying the could not process the application as it was R319 short cause all passports were now printed in England. Apparently the consul staff can make their own rules I told them that my pension was very small & I could not afford it, I told them to cancel the application & issue me with travel doc's for 1 journey & I was told that the consul would ring me. I would like to here the consuls' response.

Please advise whether a british citizen needs to sign the photo and the form confirming that they have known you for a number of years or whether any citizen can sign.
Also, are you open on 17 December 2010?
