Work Visa
I am busy looking for employment in the UK on the internet, however they always ask about my eligibility. How do I obtain this without an offer of employment, how do I obtain a work visa to work in the UK. How much will it cost me?

holiday in uk
My wife and I would like to backpack through Europe. We would also like to visit my relatives in the UK. I have a British passport but she has a South African passport. We do not intend to emigrate or work during this trip but I am concerned about the prohibitive cost of visas etc. Is it possible for her to travel on my passport as a dependant ? I would be grateful for your advice.

VISA
We applied for our visas on Friday 3 August, and were told that they take 15 WORKING DAYS!! AND THEN NO GUARANTEE! BUT THEY COULD OFFER FAST TRACK - AN ADDITIONAL R625 ON TOP OF THE VISA FEE OF R1053 GIVING A TOTAL OF R1678 EACH GIVING A GRAND TOTAL OF R3356 FOR MY SON AND I. THE FAST TRACK WOULD TAKE 5 WORKING DAYS BUT NOT GUARANTEED!!!AND FOR THIS PRICE YOU GET 6 MONTHS WOW! THE AMERICANS CHARGE R1300 AND YOU GET A VISA FOR 10 YEARS AND IT TAKES 4 DAYS TO GET A VISA, AUSTRALIA ALSO OFFER 10 YEARS!! IF YOU WANT 10 YEARS TO THE UK ITS R10,000 The olympics are on the the go so there were very few people applying and still you take that long to issue a visa!! One has no option to fast track as 3 weeks is ridiculious to wait for a visa!! What a rip off!! certainly not any incentive for people to visit the UK, which is experiencing a double dip recession, I wonder why!!! You are a first world counry surely you can offer a better service and not rip people off. Get some advice from the Americans, Australians or even the Shengen

British pensions or Dole
A destitute friend has asked me to enquire on possibilities of applying for old age pension grant from the British Govt. She has been in RSA SINCE 1970'S, has a British birth certificate and still posseses an expired british passport. She was born in Lancashire on the 12th Jan 1951 at Bankhall Maternity Hospital.
