UK Visa Services need upgrading
I wonder why the Brits are so spectacularly inefficient in their visa services. There is absolutely no way you can track your visa application and they keep your documents forever. They treat people in a very bad way. This is the worst consular service I have ever dealt with. I am tired of waiting for a visitor's visa and I only need to be in London for 5 days. It is ridiculous to wait for three weeks to get a five day visa. I think the best way to deal with this inefficiency is to go to the embassy and demand your document. Their actions are unconscionable.

We have had no updates whatsoever!
My wife (A US citizen) applied for her settlement visa through me (Being a British national), and as we were directed by automated emails after online application we sent all the documents to where the issuing office was on her application form, which was (British Consulate, New York), we didn't know we could expedite this, so we sent it by Fedex and put a prepaid return envelope inside. Through Fedex, we do know that the documents have arrived, but we've had no acknowledgements from the embassy whatsoever yet, and it has been more than three weeks now. We are totally concerned about our documents and we don't know what's happening, we cannot talk to a human being either!and all the emails go to somewhere in India, and they seem to have no clue as to what they are talking about, they don't even understand our questions, and give us random irrelevant answers calling us by wrong names too, with poor English. This is an embarrassment, they need to come into the 21st century and improve their facilities.

I'm in the same situation. I received an email on Apr.30 informing me the UK VISA has been issued. But until now (May.8), I still haven't received my passport and VISA back. Have you received yours? Don't know what to do..Try many ways to contact the consulate but none of them works. I have to cancel the whole trip if I can't get the passport back next week.

Please help. I just want confirmation of whether my documents were received by yourselves and whether they will be processed or not. Thank you.
I am having no luck contacting anyone. There is no telephone number, no email address or anyway to contact people at the New York office of the British Consulate General (or in the UK).
I have no confirmation email to say my application and documents(for UK Spousal visa) were ever received. I have sent you my original documents, paid nearly $1500 and no one can tell me a thing. All I know from the UPS office is a Mr Robinson signed for my documents on April 17th at 11.07am. All attempts by myself to speak to or email someone have failed. Please can someone respond. This is frustrating and getting urgent. My husband (a UK citizen) and I are on M1 visas in the US and need to leave the US soon only we have no passports, and no one who we can contact. How are we supposed to get any information? Mr Robinson in the mailroom please contact me. You may be able to help me. Thank you very much.

How do I get my passport back
I have applied for a business visa and I have still not heard anything back from them. I paid the 4 pound fee for webchat and it said waiting for assessment.

I need to travel with family on a vacation trip to another country that does not require the visa and I need to get my passport back. How do I get it back? There is no way to get in touch with the consulate on the number posted and the webchat is a waste of money.

Can you please advise - my Application number is GWF031328950

Awaiting passport from Durham office in u.k.
Good Morning,
I am writing to you out of desperation. My daughter has applied for a British passport. Her application was received in Durham, U.K. 8 weeks ago. My husband and myself are both British having been born in Scotland. There is serious illness in our family and we are anxiously awaiting news that will mean that we will have to leave for the U.K. at a moments notice. My daughter has mailed her American passport and every piece of eligible paperwork including my marriage and birth certificates. We have spent a fortune calling the Durham office and as we don't have an application number the cannot seem to help. Surely there is a cross reference? I wonder if you could provide a telephone number for us to call for the overseas passport office. Every time we call and manage to speak to a human, we are told to hang up, call again and choose a different prompt which we do only to be told that we have to do it again and use a different prompt. I hope you can help as we are running out of time. Thank you, Ellen Harte
