Comments on this Consulate-General
Living in Germany and my passport needs renewing. So rather than post it, I decided to drive to Dusseldorf and hand my paperwork in personally. I checked the opening times and Wednesdays are open 0900 unti 12.00 and 1300 until 1500. So off I drove and 1 3/4 hrs I arrived at the Consulate. Found the passport section only to find a notice on the door "As from 2nd April this passport office will be closed. Please send your application by post to this address". FUMING is an understatement! I then went to the post office, who after listeing to my sob story phoned the passport section only to be told that it was open. Went back again, and still closed. Eventually went back to the post office and the guy there told me the Embassy would pick their mail up in the morning so I left all my paperwork with him! Why on their very sophisticated web site is there not one mention of this closure. How many others have driven miles to an office which is closed? I have just phoned the number quoted for the website where a polite young man called James informed me that it was closed. I asked him where that information was on the website, which he replied it wasn't on there. On asking him if he was going to refund my petrol money he replied.." I am in Scotland...the enquiries come straight to Scotland. Sorry I can't be of any help" Oh joy! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr
They will not respond umless I pay exhorbitant fees. Have no more credit on my credit card, so their answer is we cannot locate your passport without a credit card charge. This is a scam. If and when I eventually get a passport I will sue them if it takes me the rest of my life. This in law is called fraud

my sister lsot her passport while on a school trip to the UK in mid june 2011. we applied for a new passport on 18.7.11 and were told it would arrive within 2-3 weeks and the 6 week notice was just a precaution. due to this we have arranged to travel to the UK next week, any chance the passport will come by then? or shall we just cancel the trip? confused here!
