my observations and suggestions for those who wants to to Turkey as an tourist..
i just came from turkey after an 18 days trip. i have been on the mediterenian and egean sides of the turkey and in istanbul.
it is really not as bad as it seems to be. i havent seen any safety issues for the public.
you can relax and enjoy your stay wherever you are in turkey.
the chances of you having an safety issue in turkey is less than you getting shot at in a public school in usa..
thank you and have a nice vacations..

maltreatment of Turkish citizens by Turkish government
Dear Turkish Consulate General in Boston,
I have been shocked by images showing police actions against demonstrators in Istanbul and other Turkish cities.
I call upon the Turkish government to:
* Intervene immediately to end abusive use of force by police, including the firing of tear gas canisters directly at protestors and abusive use of water cannon;
* Respect the right to peaceful protest;
* Launch prompt, independent and impartial investigations into the use of excessive force and bring to justice all those law enforcement officials found to have been responsible.

I hope a diplomatic, nonviolent end comes to this situation very soon.

On the anniversary of the Tienanmen Square massacre, I ask that the consul uses its influence to encourage an end to outrageous acts of violence against the peaceful protesters in Taksim. I love Turkey. And my friends in Istanbul are scared of their government. A peaceful resolution is still possible.

A Peaceful Solution to police treatment of protestors in Istanbul/Ankara.
Most Honorable Ambassador:

I watch with horror the treatment of the peaceful protestors in Istanbul and elsewhere. As an American who goes to Turkey often and dearly loves the country and the people, I ask you to use your influence to bring a peaceful solution to the conflict we are seeing there. My traveling friends will become afraid to be tourist in your country; my sailing friends from England and other European countries will move off to other marinas in other countries. It is in everyone benefit for you to work with your government to ease things to a peaceful resolution.

My best to a wonderful and general peaceful country,

Can I travel to Turkey from Armenia, border?
Hi I have a US travel document for refugees. I am planning to visit Georgia, Armenia and Turkey. I want to land in Tbilisi, then get a bus to Yerevan, then from Yerevan get a bus to Diyarbakir. I did a little research and found out that Turkish-Armenian border was closed but they are talking about opening it. So my question is, Can I travel to Turkey via Armenia?

Thank you

Answers for your questions
This is not a formal page for Turkish Consulate/ Embassy so nobody can give a formal answer to you over this form. Here are my answers (note that I'm not from consulate; just a regular person):
@Maneet: Citizens of India needs to get a visa to enter Turkey even if you're living in USA.
@Millie: US citizens can get a visa while entering to Turkey or can apply to a visa beforehand. If you want to get before entering Turkey; you'll get on the Turkish boarder (so not in Munich, in Istanbul). Germany cannot give you a Turkish visa.

@Others: Many people are asking how they can get visa..
